At this rate I'm scared you may never get halfway through an RPG. :P

This is why I didn't recommend any Shin Megami Tensei games. If he's having this much trouble with Final Fantasy a Jack Frost's Bufu would obliterate him. Anyway hang in there keep training and you should be fine.

I blame you. And me. We spoilt (spell-check is telling me that word doesn't exist but I'm sure it does) him with choice. When I was young I had one RPG to get me through the year. If you didn't like it you MADE yourself like it. Fuck, I sound like my grandpa.

Yes sadly we have spoiled him. Maybe we should just encourage him to stick with Final Fantasy X.

If he doesn't beat FFX in a week, ban him.

Don't you think that's a bit much? He is new to role playing games after all.

I don't think there is a trick to beating that boss...

It's just a case of Cheer + Attack + Heal = Dead robotic squid.

That's probably your best bet. I mean there is really no excuse not be able to beat any Final Fantasy game. There are so many guides, books, walkthroughs, let's plays that tell you everything you need to know. Just watch or read them, use whatever spell or skill they suggest and you should be fine.

That's true but I like to play games 'cold' so I'll only use the guide if I get stuck on certain boss or puzzles. After relying so many guides for WoW, it's pretty refreshing for me to go into game and being immersed into the world without having any preconceived notions at all. I don't want my gaming experience to feel very jobbish.

Glad to hear that, Yoda. Just beat that robotic squid boss but it took me 20 potions to stay alive. I'm bit concerned because Tidus' HP hasn't increased at all and I saw youtube walkthrough and Tidus in that vid has over thousand HP. So it looks like it will be tough battle for me if I'm going to use Tidus. I'm thankful that I got third aeon for Yuna.
