Rurouni Kenshin. It was nice to see a more realistic anime for a change, even if that is still a pretty big stretch of the imagination.

That is what I loved about Rurouni Kenshin.  The story blurs the line between actual historical events and fantasy, but is well executed.  I loved the fighting because it was sorta realistic, but still animesque.

I have to go with the Akira Kurosawa classic The Seven Samurai.  I'm sure there are better samurai anime out there than Ninja Scroll, but Ninja Scroll was one of my first forays into anime so I have a soft spot for it.  And as silly as this may sound, I actually kinda liked Samurai Jack on Cartoon Network.

I'm late to this topic, but Samurai Jack was amazing. If you want to see where a lot of the source material for that show came from, snag a copy of Frank Miller's Ronin. It's a lot grittier, but the plot is more or less the same.

The correct answer to this question is: Samurai Champloo.

I know some people that despise The Last Samurai.  I ask why and they say because of Tom Cruise.  That makes no sense at all.

I think they mean that they dislike that the last samurai is a white guy. At least, that's what I hope they mean.

For me, I think that the best samurai anime movie is Sword of the Stranger. Never gets old, no matter how many times I watch it.

Mmmmm, Yojimbo or Sword of Doom.  And Samurai X...I just don't know many other samurai anime, huh, I feel a bit lacking here.

Has anyone seen Onibaba?

Not really a samurai movie, more of a horror flick featuring a samurai.
Black and white, from the 60s I believe, but looks great (Criterion remaster) and incredible cinematography.
Kinda reminded me of a long Japanese episode of the Twilight Zone or something.

Pretty spooky
