I'm going to nix all those SMT games and axe for either odin sphere or a FF game to get me started on my marathon of FF games.

As for what I give others:

niece and nephew get cash
my parents: I come down and cook and clean for them on xmas and thanxgiving. that's enough for them
+1: we have a deal not to spend too much on each other. So I'm going to get some pictures printed up that she wants framed, a funny comic from invisiblehairsuit.com (that's our kind of humor), and probably some sort of kitchen or house gadget

SMT marathons are better.

@Dice: I have tribal tattoos on my wrists. Good thing I'll be working in IT, they won't care unless I was meeting with higher ups or clients. But that tattoo isn't the ugliest I've seen. The local shops do some pretty odd customer designs. My (tattoo) artist showed me a few and the reactions on his face when he sees what people want sometimes is priceless.

Since every year my dad insists on getting me something, I told him to get me WoW Cataclysm. Saves me 70 bucks since I have to rebuy the other two expansions again after my old account got messed up plus the monthly fee.

Risk; you may be slightly depressed upon finishing them.  This graph sums it funnily.

@Perley: I don't doubt some stupid tattoo designs.  I'd get one if I could think about something I've wanted, and kept wanting, for over a year.  How some people have the courage to get some of the tats on that site...is beyond me for a pretty "permanent" thing.

I'm going to say... the story of DDS is awesome so far and I love the combat system...but something about the game is really keeping me from getting balls deep.

Maybe it's the fact that I can take one or two steps and get in another battle?

Yeah there are days I regret getting the ones on my wrists. Not for the fact they're ugly but for the job/business thing. Though I like looking professional even in a business casual environment. Like the song says: "women go crazy for a sharp dressed man".

Yeah the encounter rate is HIGH. Which usually annoys me a lot, but in DDS it didn't for whatever reason, likely because I actually enjoyed the battles, they were more than just hitting attack and moving on.

The thing about other SMTs (or at least Nocturne and Strange Journey) - you have an on-screen indicator of when you'll end up in battle next. Other games like Persona show you the enemies on the map.

I hope you're joking with this. Seal is one of the most talented artists of the past decade or two. It's a tragedy that his music is so under appreciated while nothing but shit plays on the radio.

I think I'm in the 3rd dungeon. The one where you team up w/ the one faction and sneak attack on the other.

Like I said I enjoy the combat, love the style, dig the story, and the challenge is just right, but when it takes me forever to go down a hallway to find out there's nothing there I get a little miffed.

It's not enough to make me stop playing to see the rest of the story.
