First: Let me apologize for yet another FF thread. Now that we got that out of the way let me give you a gif of welcoming:

There was a brief talk about a marathon of FF games in another thread and I wanted to open up a real discussion. Why FF? Well those are the games I got hooked on RPGs with and I missed out a lot of good ones. Also, FF games are on tons of platforms and are cheap as fuck, making them accessible for a group of people.

I think it'd be fun to start the same time as other people in something like this, and maybe even have some sort of friendly competition. Of course the first person to finish all the games would be held in the highest esteem around here for being so devoted to the cause.

I think the games played should be FF's 1-Vi. That keeps this at a sort of realistic goal because 7 starts to get out of hand IIRC.

So here we can talk about when to start and what are the pros and cons of each version.

Getting started in either January or February would be a good idea. That'd give time for anyone who wants to join for tracking down and getting the games. Starting later would also give time to complete any games or whatever.

So is this stupid? Is this rad?

I have access to all the games (apart from 5, but I could track that down pretty easy). Unfortunately I'm in the middle of moving house and won't have the time for much gaming the next couple of months :(

I would be interested in listening to people post about them as they play through them, as MGShogun's posts about FFX have been inadvertently hilarious.

I might be ready by February? I'll let you know in January, because It's really too unpredictable to plan out right now. I'm going to be living with my parents for a month while I try and secure a flat and get a fricken job while also applying for a new college, then when all the hard work is done, my bf will come over and do the same.

It's like the least planned emigration ever.

Cool.

Well does anyone have any opinions on which versions of the multiplatform FFs are best?

I have a psp, ps2, and a DS-lite. I prefer not playing on the DS because that thing is uncomfortable to hold for some reason.

I'll probably pick up I and II on PSP and get the component cable adapter thing-a-ma-bob so I can play either way.

I wasn't aware that my posts about FFX were hilarious. XD But I'm glad that you enjoy the posts because I'm having a blast in FFX. :D

I would like to see this one because I'd like to see the reactions from fellow gamers based on their experiences with older FF titles.

I have pretty much all of the older main Final Fantasy titles albeit via anthologies like Final Fantasy Origins, Final Fantasy Chronicles, and Final Fantasy Anthology. The only ones that I can really say I liked were Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy VI. They held my attention long enough for me to complete them.

It looks like my only friend on this forum, Mongoose, is the only one with enough sand to do this with me.

It would take a long time to play them all, I just dont think people would have the time, especially if they already have backlogs.

During the Summer?  Suuuure.
It's school season now.  My parents would throw me over the house and hang me if I did a gaming marathon.

I don't mean to *not* be a friend. =(

I'm going to define Marathon rather loosely here.

And you declared you're hate for me.

Even though I watched the hell out of the Winter Olympics this year!!!

I think I'd be interested in playing VI again, but not really anything else.

This too.
FFV's secret dungeon (GBA) is not fun.
I have a save in FFVI on the Floating bitch Continent that I'm getting through.
FFVII I wanna start up, saved at the first save.
FFVIII...um.  I need more time before I consider replaying it.  I'd rather watch a "let's play" on youtube since battles take years to get through.
FFIX I have a save going, start of Disc 2 (disc 1 was short!!  And I'm sick of fighting Bea...)
FFX I have a save...in front of a temple somewhere.

I'm kinda doing it!!! =D
