I work as an admin. assistant at a Condo Development. We are self-managed and INCREDIBLY DYSFUNCTIONAL. I'd laugh about it if it wasn't where I grew up/parents still live. The best/worst thing about the job is my boss. He's very smart, thinks he's smarter, can do almost everything, thinks he can do everything, works 7 days a week, thinks everyone should work as diligently. It's weird.

Doing QA for government software. I am making a lot of money. On the downside it's really hard to get work done because management is a clusterfuck. I don't even know who my boss is.

Kinda funny how this topic showed up for me on my new replies page as I got fired last Friday.  Five years with Richmond Shared Services and they get rid of me because i'm full time.  I've noticed alot of companies are only hiring part-time employees.  They don't want us to have benefits and insurance and etc.  I think I should join occupy wall street, j/k.  I'm sick and tired of being a number but I guess everyone is to an extent.  I just don't understand how I make only about $700 every two weeks when CEO's, whoa ll they do is crunch numbers and sit at a desk all day and get paid double, maybe triple that I make every two weeks.  I was doing all the damn hard work, making the hospital look good with productivity.  I'm done and college is out of the question as I would have to move to do something with my life and I don't have that much money.  I guess I shouldn't have bought the Sega Saturn and $2000 of goodies back in the spring. Good thing I don't have any children yet.

I work as an almost full time Substitute Teacher. I used to have a full time job in a 4th and kindergarten classroom, but the education field imploded with the recession and pretty much everyone beats each other for jobs. However, I've been subbing for so long I'm kind of the call to girl for subbing, so I work almost every day.

The one great thing about subbing is if a class is truly awful, you can LEAVE. Plus you hear delicious jems like, "Miss, Jason said a bad word. He said "H-E-double hockey sticks. :|"

The district I work in is really small, so a lot of the kids I've subbed I've known for years. I got a special ed credential last fall, so I hope to get something more permanent come spring.

Yeah, bummer dude.
Well at least you'll have lots of free time to play those Saturn games.

Personally, all I do is go to school and work in produce at Price Chopper.
As far as part time jobs go, I lucked the fuck out. My job is ridiculously easy, and I usually work alone and don't have anyone to answer to so I can get away with not working very easily.
I get over 40 hours of vacation pay every year and they bumped me up to $9.90/hr after just one year.
Really an awesome job for me, as a student.

I'm a software QA consultant, currently doing mostly backend testing at a bank in Columbus (data warehousing/services).

I used to do QA for government software like Mesh a couple years back for the Florida Legislature.  And I know exactly what you mean in terms of the boss situation Mesh!  It can be very similar to Peter Gibbons in Office Space.

I work part time as a radioshack sales rep, and part time as an audio video installer. Radioshack sucks, by the way, with prices far more expensive then most other store and a habit of selling repackaged materials as new. Also, most of the stores, in my district at least, are full of idiots. I get people coming from opposite ends of my neighborhood to visit my store simply because of me and my coworkers, as we have the best service out of our area. I actually offer my installation services over radioshacks' own offers for a better fee and better quality, seeing as my father and I do this professionally and are local allowing for easier return trips for problems or issues with other household electrical problems. I can't mention any names, but on the installation side of things, i've installed a wall mounted sony bravia for a star on the show "gossip girl", and am installing a whole audio/video network for a major actor who has starred in a number of movies over the past 30+ years. It pays okay, better than radioshack for sure, but it isn't steady enough to outright quit shitshack.

I also do stagehanding when i can, and that pays very well. Course, i work my ass off doing it, and always need at least a day after the set of days to recuperate, but i love it.

Every time I'm in a Radioshack I'm blown away that they are still in business when every single thing in the store costs like twice as much as it does everywhere else.

Beats me, considering how often i send customers to better stores for things they need. I guess it's because they pay their sales reps like shit and understaff the stores, as well as not properly train the employees in the fields they need to better help people with questions. But dear god if a sales rep in radioshack can't push a new cell phone on you...

I was once a therapist, went intern for a year before finally getting a proper salary.

Then I went to med school and became a retirement home CNA,nurse, then I interned in radiology and now I work as a radiologist(X-rays).I love the great pay, benefits, the location,my hours(early mornings) but its often a hard day depending on what kinds of patients we get.Leukemia, cancer, car accidents and other disturbances are a daily routine.Since I'm not general practice or even doing specialist work such as gynecology I don't get personal work with patients much, mainly do research and diagnosis.

I'm hoping to continue medical school and go into pharmacology, that way I can focus on research instead of patient care.

Scientist, Pathology Bio/haem etc

Sounds great, terrible pay, American Company and we are feeling their problems even though last economic year was at more of a profit then the last decade. This is where "Transfer to the States" comes in, But we have it too easy here at them moment and the money is flowing.

I went from Engineer to science, just because you're good at something doesn't mean you like it
