God knows I've paid twice as much for games I've like half as much.

Check this out!

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2011/09/14-1/video-the-legend-of-heroes-trails-in-the-sky-ova-trailer

LOH as an anime.... I'm not sure whether to be excited at the prospect, or discouraged by some of the "game to anime" adaptation blunders in the not so distant past... Interesting regardless though.

Given how much of an anime the games are to begin with; it isn't entirely unfeasible for the series to successfully make the transition from game to anime.

Damn it! It didn't sell well so now the 2nd installment is being held hostage. Part of this on Xseed though, If it wasn't for RPGFan I would never even known this game existed.

It doesn't help that not many people in general are very interested in a very anime JRPG series from the early aughts. Granted it's not bad anime (of which there are tons) but its practically the definition of niche market.

Also Gamestop is the only place to get these games but only if you preorder from them (as I found out with the Ys 1 & 2 PSP port) and I hate preordering from them in general since it means more trips to and from the store (which may or may not even have the bloody things) and more harassment with crap like Game Informer rag subscriptions and so on.

That said, since I've already done my part in supporting XSeeD in purchasing TitS 1, I'll need to pick other games to support them with the likes of Grand Knights History and such.

Now that XSeed is planning on releasing a few Ys games on Steam, are we going to see some TitS on Steam?  Are they going to ditch the PSP versions of its sequels and just go straight to the PC?

...whatever.  I'd buy it again.  Trails in the Sky is not only the first Legend of Heroes game that qualifies as non-crap, it was one of the best RPGs I played in the last year or two.

I never enjoyed a game as much as I enjoyed tits for my psp.

Not many titles are as enjoyable as the tits series.

Anyone can enjoy tits, they're very family friendly.

I remember my last encounter with tits...been a while.

You should always use two hands to play with tits.

Okay, I'm done.

I'll probably wait until all three chapters of Trails in the Sky are out on either the PSP or PC in North America before playing them, since I don't want to play the first chapter on the PSP only to have to replay it on the PC because XSEED abandoned it in favor of the PC versions, blah blah blah.

While I'm more of a Trails girl myself, the Gagharv trilogy are really pretty good if you play them in their native language. White Witch, in particular, is often described as a "poetic RPG" by its Japanese fans because despite its relatively straightforward plot, the dialogue and narration is almost novel quality at times, and definitely top tier stuff among JRPGs. The trouble is that they're extremely basic outside of the story and text, and thus require very good translations to really work in another language. And the translations Bandai put out for them... barely even qualified as competent, much less good.

In short, don't blame the games. Blame the incompetence of those who localised them.

I'll have to take your word for it, because the U.S. versions of Vermillion and White Witch were *awful*.  Pure boring RPG genericness, lifeless dialog, and nothing terribly impressive about its narrative.  Trails in the Sky, on the other hand, was fabulous.  2nd Chapter can't get localized fast enough.

I played the first 2 LoH games for psp, anyone who appreciated them probably hasn't played an rpg since chrono trigger. Games had evolved greatly up to that point, and those were a significant step back.

Trails in the sky was an amazingly well told story, and a very well made game. If I found out tomorrow that the next title was vita only, I'd buy a vita next week. I really loved that game, and I have pretty odd standards.

I'd actually agree, Trails would be the title that makes me finally decide to get the system.
