Doing some thread necromancy because of
this
.
We had always heard the story about how since there was no PSN version of the second title (related to the fact that it was on two UMDs) a Western release would have to be UMD-only, which is a really hard sell with the state of the PSP market these days. This is pure speculation, of course, but now that there
is
a PSN version, which should presumably work on Vita as well, the odds of it getting localized just went up dramatically.

I'd say the existence of Xseed localized Falcom games at all on Steam drastically shot up its chances, if not all but guaranteeing it, but on PSP? Yeah, I think it's a guarantee now one way or another.

Sorry, but PSN only isn't good enough.

Yes, I would rather have no game than a game in some form, too.

After the end of Trails in the Sky? Fuck that bullshit.
And besides it may be a case where they'd feel more confident releasing it with both PSN and UMD versions possible, even if the UMD one only got a limited Amazon/GameStop/whereverelse run.

I would like to transfer the save data to the second game without having to rebuy and replay TITS again.
Somehow, I suspect this is not going to happen.

Um, if they release it on PSN, that's not a problem. Even if you play it on Vita. There's no difference between the save files for the digital versions and the physical versions. Hell, even the PSP saves for PSone classics are compatible with the Vita. I just transferred over a bunch this week.

John is absolutely right. Now, if they release on PC and only PC, then you'd have a problem. With PSN it's just like switching out UMDs, except without the UMDs.

If I had to guess, we'll get it on PC and PSP/PSV. Tom (an HR dude who works for and is on the official Xseed forum) seems to be nudging that idea along.

This is freakin' awesome news! The only thing better than this will be the announcement that we are actually getting it... I knew there was a good reason to keep my save file around. LoH Trails in the Sky was, hands down, my favorite thing to happen on the PSP... still have the soundtrack on my "Jogging Playlist" which I run to everyday... and the soundtrack didn't even particularly move me, I just dug the game enough to keep listening-LoL

Honestly for me it was one of my favorite rpgs in recent memory.
PSN/UMD/Steam whatever I don't give two fucks. Not a ton of things carry over from save data anyway so It's not a big deal to me regardless. Though Ys on Steam was pretty awesome, I wouldn't mind seeing Trails getting the same treatment. Well, whatever I'll be happy either way as long as it's localized.

With SC's release, the entire Kiseki series, including Sora no Kiseki FC, Sora no Kiseki the 3rd, Zero no Kiseki, Ao no Kiseki and Nayuta no Kiseki, will be available for download.
Wait what? Is there something on the Japanese PSN for Ao and Zero??????

I don't buy digital so it's a problem no matter which they release it on.

May be the way of the future, kiddo.
Distributors can just put up online instead of getting a retailer to put it up-- you'll never have to deal with "stock" again, and no need for making cases and all that. I actually kinda welcome it. And while I get it, I'm surprised so many people are so adamant to have a physical copy.
