About to finish main quest. Interlude and TAY will define my score.
FFIVDS in the lead right now.

I've been playing this for a couple of days, mostly for TAY since I've played the original to death (hell, the original game was what got me into RPGs when I was a little kid and ressurected my love for my SNES). If you haven't played TAY yet because of it's high price on the wiiware store then this is a great deal - you're getting well over 30+ hours for TAY, and it's nicely polished. It feels a lot less like an RPGmaker game.
Maybe I'm giving it higher praise because of the interlude. Oh god, I won't go into detail yet because some of you guys are still waiting for this...but if you're buying this game for the interlude CANCEL RIGHT NOW. The interlude is so shitty, so cobbled together, so SHORT (even for an INTERLUDE) that I almost stopped playing this game right there and then. I can forgive shortness. I can not forgive blatant half-assed storytelling that makes no SENSE and only answers questions we already knew from reading the back of the goddamn box. THANK YOU FOR NOTHING, SQUARE ENIX. :|
Rant over. Thank god I didn't buy this game for the interlude.
Hee! Ceodrore's sprite looks like the American Flag!

I bought TAY and all of its additional scenarios on WiiWare, and then never played them.
Now I'm going to go buy this.
Congrats on doubling your profits thanks to my laziness, S-E. :)

I kind of want to try this game, but I'm already most of the way through FFIVDS. Might be worth it just for Interlude and After Years though. Friend I co-own the PSP with refuses to buy any new FFs though. And I think that includes WotL. There goes many good gaming experiences.

Yeah, I didn't bother with this. I'm sure people are enjoying it, and I'm desperate for a new good game... but not this desperate. The olde FF formula doesn't really work on me, and IV is just under the cut (I love/d FFV still).

I believe he means War of the Lions, the Final Fantasy Tactics PSP remake.

*Facepalms* With all due respect I think you know not of what you speak. Spriting is a unique art style much like Cel-Shaded or any other form of 3D modeling; as such you really can't cross compare to say something "looks bad". The graphics look
quite excellent
for the art style the game utilizes compared to anything else within the sprite-based gaming field. For point of comparison look at another sprite style game that came out only a month ago, Jikandia. Now those are some pretty bad graphics.

your talking to someone who eats up strategy rpg's. sprites arent the problem honey. the problem is they STILL have this attacking at air with damage numbers appearing over the enemy. is it to much to ask to at least have the characters jump next to the enemy before attacking?

I find it unnecessary. It's basically like asking a movie to show you every time the protagonist goes to take #2. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen nor is it relevant to enjoy the content within.
In addition it streamlines the gameplay; which I appreciate. The total time it would take a sprite to leap forward, attack, and leap back again is about 2-3 seconds tops. Doesn't sound like much right? But how many attacks do you make in a game like Final Fantasy IV? Thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands? That's not an unreasonable estimate. So quick math:
Realistic sprite additional attack animation: 2 seconds
Attack actions taken in the entire game: 75,000
Seconds spent watching attack animations: 150,000 seconds
Seconds exchanged to minutes: 2500 minutes
Minutes exchanged to hours: 41.66666~
So...unless you want to spend about 41 hours enjoying realistic sprite attack animations...I'll take the old fashioned variety thanks.
