Game Arts is probably busy making a port of Lunar: The Silver Star for the 3DS.

Lol,  I would not be surprised at all if that turned out to be true. I think Grandia xtreme and Grandia III pretty much killed the series.

That's a shame really. Xtreme and III might've had crap stories but they also had what I think are the best combat systems of any RPG in the entire existence of the genre. Even if Grandia IV is never made it would be a shame for the industry if no one else utilized the IP Battle System.

I regret not completing III or Xtreme, I really enjoyed the battle system.

I've only played the first one, but I remember thinking the battles were too long as I got further into the game. Were the battles quicker/shorter in X-treme and 3?

I heard that X-treme was really bad for that.
Grandia 3 is ok, at the end of the game, you laugh at random encounters.

Here's something from my Youtube, 20 second fight (and that's without any uber moves)

I'd really like another Grandia game but only if it is good XD

My first one was 2 on dreamcast and that one is still my favorite.  IMO it had the best characters in the series.  1 is good but I didn't like any of the characters except Sue, and she's not with you all the time   :(  Didn't play Xtreme.  3 has horrible characters and I liked none of them.  main character was a fruitcake.  if the battle system wasn't so great I wouldn't have been able to finish it

all the games have great battle system and a generally bad plot that's why my preference is determined by the characters lol

Here's an interesting question: Which game do people think had the better battle system? Xtreme or III?

Personally I thought Xtreme was slightly better. III's ran more smoothly and introduced some interesting air combos, but traded off better melee combat for broken magic. (It was far too easy to get the ultimate spells and you could literally spam them most of the game for easy wins, almost literal OHKOs against all by the hardest bosses.) Xtreme seemed to have better balance and more of a risk/reward when it came to timing your shots and positioning your characters.

Grandia III, but only for one stupid reason: Flash is one of the sexiest move I've ever seen.
Berserker + Flash + Warp Boots + air combo = I came

Where's the hell is my Breath Of Fire VI? Sorry for the off topic...

I played only 1st Grandia and I really liked it, sadly I never finished it. Well, maybe someday I will buy it again and beat it.

I played Grandia 1, too, and I've got Grandia 2 to play through someday. However, given the quality of GameArts games as of late, I'm not sure I'd want a Grandia 4...

Grandia III had a great battle system, but I felt that the story took a dump in the middle (certain someone left the party) and I quit the game shortly afterward.
