I'm working on another thing and I need to know whether or not one is massively better than the other.

IMPORTANT PART FORTHCOMING ----> I'm really just wondering which site is more efficient at retrieving the information I need (aggregated review scores). So I'm not, for the love of God, trying to start a debate on the merits and/or utter ridiculousness of collecting subjective data on non-uniform scales.  I've had that discussion before and it ends with an editor angry at me for not understanding his ham sandwich analogy.

Thanks!

Haha - I have no opinion on which does better, but I can say that I never go to Game Ranking.  Don't have a particular reason other than I became acquainted with Metacritic first.

I remember Game Rankings from at least a decade ago. It was pretty sloppy then. I visit Metacritic from time to time.

They're both owned by CBS Interactive, though it's not the same team.

I'd heard that they were both owned by gamespot... but it turns out CBS owns all 3.

Both take RPGFan into account, so both are important :)
Metacritic is the one most commonly referenced when talking about metascores as well as ranked 1,543 in Alexas global ranking and 1,008 in its US ranking, compared to gameranings 31,327 global and 17,964 US.

Neither, to be honest. I can't say, or rather don't know, whether game reviews were ever the #1 factor in getting a game or such and such, but at the same time, the ability of some random person a website way back when to make that determination was much better than simply an average of such people.
