Well, think about this... has any Nintendo DS update really grabbed you SINCE the DSLite? They gimped the DSi by removing the GBA slot, and the DSi XL is just a larger/heavier version, which some don't want. The DSLite was so definitive because the first design of the DS wasn't all that great. Then they happened on the DSLite body style, which they found really worked. The 3DS will have the DSLite body style from the start. I imagine they'll find other ways of updating it, but I doubt it will be the big definitive jump that the DSLite was, and it probably won't be so soon after launch. Mostly, I just see internal memory upgrades, but since this comes with an SD slot, who cares?
All of you waiting for the 2nd generation are just not that interested in the system in the first place, which is fine. But don't expect an update to change your opinion drastically, I doubt that will happen in this case.
