I beat Ys I last night. It was awesome, the best music I've heard in a game in a long, long time (and I just finished Radiant Historia last week too). I had to use the walkthrough they included in the manual in a couple of places, which makes me sad because I really hate doing that.

Wow, that was quick!

We don't have the manual with the EU version (which is a big shame), so hopefully it will be managable without one of those walkthroughs...

Well, there's a puzzle involving trees in Ys I that seems impossible to find without a walkthrough :P

If you know what you're doing you can probably beat Ys I in 3-4 hours.

Then...I won't feel too guilty having to make use of a walkthrough later on if it becomes impossible :P

supersonic, what would be the average playthrough of the game if you're going the first time through it?

I'd say 7-8 hours.

I started playing Ys I yesterday as my current handheld title after I beat Radiant Historia. I"m about four hours in and all I can say is that it is pure old-school JRPG goodness. Looks like I've already hit the level cap after some grinding in the mine...

I know it's off topic but how would you rate Radiant Historia ? I'm really at the beginning (after yo change your fate for the first time) and while it's been fun I'm thinking on focusing on some other games on my list before it unless it becomes much better sooner.
