So apparently, Vic will be back at the helm of a new localization company called Gaijinworks, and it will cover Japanese RPG titles on all consoles, and will not be limited to any one console. Here is their official site, but there's nothing on there at the moment.

Thoughts?

...Is it just me, or does the name "Gaijinworks" totally suck?

No.

To 'is it just me' that is, not to 'the name totally sucks'.

Either I'm having a serious sense of deja vu or this already was posted on the RPGFan boards.  Yeah, I think the name's lame too.  I know what they say about not judging a book but its cover, but that's not the best choice by any means. :P

Yeah, awhile back in the Victor Ireland thread. But the thread pretty much died after that, so unless there's another instance I'm missing... Might be worth it as a whole new topic.

Another company for Ireland to run into the ground.  Wonderful!  He'll end up fucking this venture over just like he did with his last one.

I doubt there is any market left for him, publishers like NISA and Atlus have been pretty busy, they release more than one game every 1-2 years. They even do the deluxe package dealy. Disgaea 2 extra's look very nice.

Gaijinworks?  I guess some people don't know when to quit.

Though what games are left that he can actually bring over?  NISA, Atlus, and even XSeed have done a better job bringing the relatively obscure stuff over.

To be fair, Xseed has yet to show just what all they'll grab, and NIS specializes in RPGs. Atlus grabs the quirky non-RPGs, but aside from them, I don't think we see many come out here unless it's by a major publisher.

Then again, Vic mostly grabbed shooters and RPGs, so I think Atlus is still the one to look for random whatever games.

Well true, XSeed has only brought two RPGs to the domestic market, but I still don't think they're done.  They did say they'd go beyond RPGs, so I'm urious as to what they'll bring yet.  I'm just saying that two games released in close proximity to each other isn't that bad for a new company.
