Mad Men was where it was at last night.

I agree 100%. I didn't see GoT, but holy shit at Mad Men:

Code:
They way they showed Lane's dead body was horrifying. It was so cold and detached, there was no camera close up or shocking music, everything was quiet. I mean, I heard rumor's about someone killing themself this season, and Lane wasn't a big major character, but the way they showed his body just hanging there was so haunting.

God, what an episode.

This whole season of mad men has been incredibly dark. Some of the dialog has been absolutely phenomenal and has real life resonance for me.

Without a doubt one of the best seasons of a show IMHO

Haha I still can't really find the "art" in Mad Men, but I do enjoy the ride for whatever it is (too much sub-text that, to me, goes nowhere).

Quote
Lane wasn't a big character, but I was sad to see him go (earning a place in my heart after punching the fuck out of Campbell).  I can't say I really sympathized with him that much because he was such a secondary character, I never really felt he had hit a "bottom" so hard as to hang himself.  The event and the way it was done (the little details like destroying his glasses or not having his car start or making a "resignation letter"), but I'm not particularly blue or find it a "big season shocker" or whatever.  The office's reaction was subtle, but professional even in such a dark moment.

Sally's "boyfriend" creeps me the hell out, and I hate them two together because I find him a putz. That, and I have a personal vendetta against young teenaged men with peach-fuzz mustaches.  I didn't care for, um, Mother Rosemary finding Sally as the whole "you have now started a new life; you're life as a woman!", but I thought it was great to see Betty defrost a bit and enjoy being a mother for once by feeling a bond with her kid.  Ah well, at least Sally finally got to wear her tramp boots she couldn't earlier this season.

No Peggy this week.  Good form (helps make her departure feel legit and in something she was confident in).  Hope to see her back in good shape next season! :D

He's an awkward young kid. They nail that perfectly. Though IRL such a kid probably wouldn't blurt out about life sucking so hard in an elevator with another dude.

The greatness in mad men is the "subtext" as you put it. It's all about the characters having to react to their situations as they should, but little phrases and gestures give away their true feelings.

HOLY SHIT YOUNG JUSTICE, I KNEW IT.

This show has officially replaced the DCAU as my favorite comic-based animation, ever. It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Fucking eh, I mean Legend of Korra was pretty good and all, but young justice is amazing. How did it take so long to make a cartoon this good? Batman was cool, JLU was alright, Superman was okay, teen titans was funny and all....but goddamn this shit is like toon crack. I hoped for what happened in this episode to happen, but how it played out? Fuck amazing! Shit is amazing. As Nightwing would put so ellegantly...I was whelmed.

I like how the team has such disparate personalities too. M'gann has become ruthless and vicious, Superboy's basically the spitting image of Superman, and Lagoon Boy is just a fucking asshole (though his bit with the static over psychic linkup made me laugh).

Nightwing's reply just made it better too. I'd even go so far, regarding superboy, as to say he's become a bit too soft, but the superman reference does describe him well. M'gann has become the realist, showing no fear about getting her hands dirty, and when she went off on Superboy, I lul'd inside. He was so whipped, haha.

Started up Life on Mars (BBC version) last night. I've only seen one episode, but I absolutely love it. Such a great concept for a show. John Simm really makes the show. He's just so damn good. I'm not even big on the whole 70s motif, but it's just done so well that I really appreciate what it took to pull it off. Looking forward to Ep. 2.

One of the last episodes of BB season 4 ("Crawl Space") is so good and so horrifying. That ending scene is haunting.

Mad Men is over for another season. A pretty low-key episode compared to last week's, but still really good. Some very well shot scenes, like the one on the commercial set near the end of the episode, and when the partners spread out on the second floor. And I didn't catch the ending song when I watched it, but my bf did, and what a fantastic choice it is. So perfect for both the show is general, as well as its main character.

I just watched Crawl Space and that was creepy as all hell. It sort of reminded me of the ending to A Serious Man

Still haven't seen Mad Men. Maybe tomorrow.

Ending of Season 4 of Breaking Bad was fucking incredible. What a solid show.
