Watching the Hartnell stuff (1st Doctor) in Doctor Who.

Hartnell's Doctor is a real bastard.

Some really good stories (Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Aztecs) but some boring ones too.

Granted, tastes have changed over 50 years.

He is, isn't he? :)

I'm on the 2nd Doctor right now, watching it on DVD.  From the extras, it seems like they were really trying to find their way still, even into the 2nd Doctor's episodes.  But like you said, there was both good and bad stuff there.  They sometimes read old reviews of the show, and even back then, they thought the bad ones were bad.

The interesting thing to me has been when those reviews said things like "well, I shouldn't expect more, it's just a kid's show," or "this is really good for a kids show," or "I'm not sure that episode was appropriate for kids."  I know that's what it nominally started out as, but it just doesn't feel like a kid's show to me.

Doctor Who is a weird one that way. :P I'll learn more towards kids show though.  Though it's ahead of the times for a kids show, having gay relationships in it and such. I'd say its more for early teens.

Sarah Jane Adventures - 13 and under

Doctor Who - 13 and up

Tortchwood - 16 and up.

Or something like that.

Man, I didn't even know that anything from before the third Doctor still survived.

There are big gaps, sadly including the story where the Doctor regenerates for the first time.  But there were a bunch that they got their hands on, and they've put most of them out on DVD.  Not all yet, but most.  They've had to be pretty creative with some stories to put together missing episodes.  Actually, in a couple of cases, they just have audio, and they've animated some of the missing stuff.

I love old Dr. Who. It's a fascinating show to go back to.

Walking Dead was pretty great tonight.

Code:
And Michonne gained some much needed development. Her comic version is one of my fav characters, and now the TV version is starting to become one as well. Loved that line about that ceramic cat thing and how she had to go back because it was "just too damn gorgeous."

Yeah, it was nice to take a break from the prison and the Governor.
Code:
I wonder if we'll ever see Morgan again. I was hoping he would go with Rick.
And, man, didn't you feel bad for the fellow on the road screaming for help? I wanted them to stop and help him! And then we see at the end that he had been killed. It's amazing how callus living a world like that makes you.
Michonne has been nothing but quiet stares for far too long. You want to like her so much, but the show doesn't seem to know what to do with her besides kill things. I'm glad they did even a little bit.

There's quite a bit of the first Doctor left. Troughton's era is the one that suffered the most.

Originally it *was* a kids show. That's why a lot of the historicals were done - so they had educational value.

You guys are right about them finding their way though, they didn't even come up with the Time Lords until the end of Troughton's era.

Alright. I need to fess up and admit that I actually watched King of the Nerds.

And like all other reality shows, this too ended up being a popularity contest and people bringing out their ugly, vicious, cutthroat sides was still the only reason to watch.

Thank god Archer ran on the same time slot as the boring parts of the show usually were and The Daily Show came on just in time to rinse the bile out of my eye sockets.

FUCK THE MONEY HUNGRY EXECUTIVES AND BULLSHIT PRACTICES, THIS SHOW IS AMAZING AND DESERVES TO STAY ON THE AIR! NOTHING HAS BEEN AS AMAZINGLY WELL EXECUTED AS THIS ONE CARTOON IN TERMS OF HOME ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA!

So as far as I can tell, today was the final episode of young justice. Even in the final episode it managed to impress me. Cartoon Network cancelling this is a serious mistake.

I was cooking today and caught My Little Pony on.  I decided to give it a watch, see what the fuss, fandom, and fanatics is all about.
I didn't fall in love, but I *get it*.
It's just a light, fluffy show where nothing too-too terrible happens.  It's cute, girlie, happy, magical, and silly.  Essentially, there's little to hate -- except [gasp!] the fanatics themselves.

Anyways.
The Office almost warranted a spin-off featuring Dwight... after the episode "The Farm", I'm glad they pulled that idea away.  Either way, the show is wrapping up his character arch, Dwight is the proud owner of a bigger farm.

Parks and Rec was fun. I liked seeing "Leslie's porno", and I like when she and Ron have their moments together; their relationship is the epitome of how "opposites attract".  And oh man...Jean Rafio's sister... weird.

Archer was a lot of fun.  After a slow start this season, its been picking up a lot a lot!  Some good action, and I loved the way Archer's "daring rescue" was animated.  Pam and Kreiger[?] (that doctor/scientist dude with the virtual anime girl) continues to be disgusting (I think he fucked that pig for one... Pam's impersonation of Lana was spot on).  Also there's moose in mousse.

I want to watch 1600 Pen...I had a crush on Bill Pullman when I was young... and now too, but he's gotten a bit old, and probably smells like old people smell.  ....

1600 pen is pretty funny, but only because of Josh Gad's shenanigans. He plays an idiot quite well. Overall, I enjoy the show as it pokes fun at a fairly fucked with genre (politics) by making it a family sitcom. Course, if this is similar to how obama's family is in the white house....god I fear for our country.
