To IA-

The final boss is an absolute monster on NG+.  He can essentially kill you in two quick attacks.  Did you parry him to kill him quickly?  I tried but just couldn't get the timing down, so I used some helpful spirits to assist me.

the spots i noticed the change in AI was mostly in the undead burg. enemies don't see you coming from as far away as they did and they stay put till your closer. the positions of enemies changed a bit too. it probably is a lot easier for beginners now. i kinda liked the way it was. the one enemy change that i like is the crossbowmen above the minotaur are moved to the side of the ladder so the one doesn't hit you with a sword every time you get to the top anymore, that was annoying. but now they can't see you that well so they're dead before they shoot/swing at you. i sorta feel it's too nerfed.

i killed lautrec and smough over the weekend. i can't think of an npc killing i've enjoyed as much.

I'm almost done! Only 3 more areas to go. I think I enjoyed Demon's Soul more because it was the first time I ever played a game like this. Dark Souls does do a lot of things better, but I'm finding myself just wanting to get it over with. Maybe the fact that I went from Demon's Soul straight to this had something to do with it.

i did the same thing and i kinda feel the same way. i'm not as far as you i think so i'm not as eager to finish. i think that i like demon's souls more in some aspects and dark souls more in others. i don't think i've been as nervous about bosses in dark souls as much. i think the flame lurker was my favorite in the series so far because it was difficult but if you were smart and vigilant you could beat it by yourself. flame lurker and king alant were the only enemies i had phantoms help with and mostly they died. in dark souls it's easier to get humanity to be alive and summon phantoms. the phantoms i've summoned have destroyed the bosses in seconds. i just think demons souls had a tighter balance to it. i like the bonfire set up in dark souls more. that reminds me, i wonder if they took the giants that were supposed to be in the broken arch stone in demon's souls and just added it to dark souls.

Does collecting all the Lord Souls and defeating the boss not net you the best ending? I have to say, that was a terrible ending for all that I went through to get there.

There's only two endings:

Code:
Light the fire, or walk out. You could argue that "walking out" is the best ending, especially if you caught Kaathe's dialogue.

Yeah, it's just like Demon's, it all  comes down to a choice at the end of the game. I still have a long way to go...

The best part of the final battle is that Gwyn is in hollow form.

Also, can you still do this with the Prism Stones? I want to do it in co-op. :p

Just have the last 4 big bosses or so, then the end game. Having a hard time motivating myself to finish it, especially when hearing how hard the last few bosses can be.

Probably need to spend some time grinding to upgrade my armor. My best weapon by far is the demon spear, unless of course I dual wield one of the axe or greatswords, but they're far too slow for my play style.

What is your playstyle? And for the love of God, don't dual wield unless you're good at parrying.

Start with the Duke's Archives if you're worried about boss difficulty.  The dungeons before it are much harder than the boss itself - especially if you're a mage.  The boss is literally made for mages to kill it. The hardest part is trying to cut his tail off.

Four Kings are either easy or hard depending on how quickly you can get their health down.  You can't cheeze them anymore either, but keep the Crest shield on you and stick close.  Their damage is weaker the closer you are.

The Tomb of Giants boss isn't as hard if you bring a Divine Weapon and don't run around. You also have to listen to sound effects, because one of his most dangerous attacks is only detectable through them.

The boss of Lost Izalith is both the easiest and the hardest.  it's the easiest in that any progress you make actually stays every time you die! It's a Dragon God like boss.  It's also the hardest because bad luck is probably going to push you off the edge more than a few times.  Not to mention Lost Izalith itself deserves a "what in God's name were the developers thinking?"

If you can go in the Tomb of the Giants with a Dragon Slayer Bow and a Divine Axe it can also help you a lot. I wish you the best of luck if you want to get the Large Divine Ember though.

Ha.  You pretty much have to suicide for that Ember.  I got one of them down once and I was proud of myself for that.

I manage to kill all the fuckers in my second playthrough. Go Pyromancy!!

With the new patch I notice yesterday that this brutes are faster and in the part of the ember they make you fight 5 of those huge skeletons at the same time instead of 2 in the older version... maybe the developers think that was too easy before. :T

I use eagle shield and the demon spear. I've probably stupidly tried to bump my stats up equally across the board. As I'm not very good with rolling and dodging, I love having the spear for long reach and a shield to fall back on.

I made it to Four Kings, but after dying once didn't feel like trecking back into the abyss just to die again. Have made it to the crystal caves, but kept falling off trying to avoid those large butterfly things.
