So, funny story: I've obviously known of Dark Souls (and Demon Souls) and its greatness for a while, mostly thanks to the RPGFan Podcast aka Rob and have wanted to give it a go. I have had a few opportunities at a friend's place and I know I like it, so it was a matter of waiting to get it, what with Skyrim, Skyward Sword, and ME3 to wade through.

Now a few weeks ago, I was chatting with a friend about games and such and she tells me she has Dark Souls and she effing hates it! It's too damn hard, she can't even get past the first boss, and it just makes her feel terrible (haha). Clearly, that hardcore isn't her jam. I tell her I'm a fan and I'm looking forward to getting it. What does she say? "You can have". I can just take it, she doesn't want it in her sight at all hahaha. So, I lent her Kingdoms of Amalur to heal the wounds and she has given me Dark Souls which I am now happily breaking into.

Such a fun, challenging title that really demands you keep your wits about you. I have moments I feel so badass getting those counters right, but then the next scrap my timing's totally off and I get my ass lain out. The worst. Better go retrieve my souls! NOPE! Laid out. *face palm*

*rinse*

*repeat*

Totally going to enjoy this grind. I'm running with a barbarian who seems pretty solid so far. Really wish I had taken down the Asylum Demon in the first place. I was making good headway, got about halfway, then got sloppy, dangit. Just didn't have the patience after the fifth try.

The feedback loop in Dark Souls is brutal, but amazing. I love the game.

This might be the best piece of DLC I'll ever buy.

Good news.

Jolly good about the dlc, but here's some bad news.
Anyone who clicked on your link should do a prompt virus scan.

Yeah I don't know what's up with Siliconera lately.  I got a virus warning on there a week or two ago, but nothing was ever found when I scanned (maybe was already blocked).

Thanks for the heads up, I replaced both links with RPGFan ones.

Hmm, my apologies. I've never had issues with Siliconera before.  Maybe one of their ads is bad?

"From Software plans on re-releasing Dark Souls with the upcoming Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content as Dark Souls with Artorias of the Abyss Edition. This bundle, which is essentially Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for Japan, will be available on PC and PlayStation 3.

Early purchasers will snap up a couple of bonus items with their game a 70 page strategy guide that explains how to start Dark Souls and goes all the way up to the Gargoyle (this is based on the original Dark Souls guide with updated stats), an overworld map, soundtrack CD (the same one Japan got in September), and a sleeve to hold all of the items."
-- Source: Siliconera

You can see a high quality version of the new Japenese box art here and the news of the "Artorias of the Abyss" pack thingy here.

I assume because they use questionable advertisers that probably utilize malware. Their site does take real long to load at times.

A bit late, but the Dark Souls design works has been out for a few months now in Japan.

I received  my copy today - it's hardcover, 125 pages, with about 120 of them being art.  It's relatively inexpensive for an import (I was able to get it for $30 + $10 shipping), so if you enjoy the game, it's probably worth it. Much, much better than the crap artbook found with the (North American) LE.
