No problem.  Also if you still plan on being a magic archer I would recommend being a sorcerer to level up your magic.  I spent my time maxing out strider, assassin, and ranger.  By the time I tried being a magical archer my build was wrong.  My magic is so low that I do piddly damage.  I switched back to a ranger since my longbow is pretty badass.

Getting to visit the Toran Republic from Suikoden 1 in part 2 is soooooo cool! It added a layer of nostalgia to an already nostalgic experience for me.

On a whim I chose Kasumi over Valeria to join me. Valeria is one of my favorite sword-weilding-chick-ee's ever, but I made an impulse decision based on character portrait aesthetics... I hope I made a good call.

I was gonna play me some Mario 3d World for christmas, amongst sampling some other games I've been meaning to try but I highly doubt I will be able to turn off Suikoden at this point.

Make sure to visit the hidden Ninja village on the way out. It's Kasumi's biggest perk over Valeria (her other perk involves a scene involving the protagonist of the first game).

Dammit.... I missed that hidden village apparently. Can I go back and find it?

I feel like I need some kind of Disgaea primer before delving into the series. I've picked up a bunch on a whim because I like that style of SRPG, but I never really played past the tutorial on any of them. Now that I've been working on Disgaea DS a little bit here and there I find I've been doing the first two real missions several times and still can't get past the third one.

A few questions I would have:
- Is there an efficient way to level up new characters?
- What's a good way to determine if your party is sufficiently full/leveled/balanced.
- Is throwing really as effective of a strategy as the game would have you believe?
- Any other general tips.

Whelp I am giving up on Bitterblack Isle.  I am running away a lot and barely making it through the battles I fight.  It was a fun game and I hope they make a sequel.  They just either have to revamp the romance system or get rid of it entirely.   Escorting a character does not equal a date.  Talking to someone doesn't mean I am romantically interested in them.

I rebought Creatures 1/2 from Gog.com because that's the only version that works consistently in Windows 7.

Decided to start up a wolfling run in C1.

One of the norns died on a moving cart that transports things around the basement. So this cart's just moving back and forth with a dead animal on it. Lovely.

--- edit ---

SMTIV - Just finished the Domain in Naraku. I'm having a huge problem actually getting first strikes on the enemy. I don't have a good grip on the swords range, the collision detection seems wonky, and I really would've just preferred random battles or something, because it feels like the only time combat goes poorly is when the enemy gets a first strike, and that happens a lot because I have no idea what the game expects from me in terms of slashing them outside of combat.

--- edit2 ---

Ecco 3DS - The 3D effects look better in Shinobi 3 since that had a lot more parallax to work with and also Ecco has some weird level geometry at points, but still, it looks better in 3D for some reason.

IREM Stuff - I think I'll try to write MAME drivers for the Dotemu romsets I bought because screw it my life's a trainwreck anyway.

Shinobi 3DS - Only played a level of this but I think this is what I wanted Mark of the Ninja to be. Also I love the visuals -- they immediately reminded me of Panzer Dragon Saga with how muted and orange they are.

Bus Driver - Much like Euro Truck 2, this is super evocative and just feels good to play. I did two of the easier missions in this and I think managed to terrify my passengers and take out a lot of other vehicles. It's great but I wish it had free play, where I could just keep doing some circular route for however long I felt like, instead of having the route end after I completed it.

So I am super excited about the 3ds chibi robo game.  I loved the GC game, it's one of my top 10 favorite games.  Somehow, I never played park patrol so I finally ordered it.  I also bought Night of the Rabbit for $5.99 at gog.  I keep monitoring these sales yet I have so many unplayed games from  previous sales.  I figure I'll buy PC games if it is more than 50% off.

Since I've been neglecting my PC, I polished off 2 hidden object-adventure game hybrids.  The Lonely Hearts Murders had way too much backtracking.  Also the placement of the puzzle pieces made absolutely no sense.  For example to get a gear for a puzzle, you had to feed some hungry cats.  Where do you get the fish?  Well in a locked mailbox of course.

Got tired of HOGs, and started Botanicula.  My goodness this game makes me smile.  The visuals and music work together to create this wonderful whimsical world.  I often forget about my objectives and just explore.  So much fun.

Currently playing Last Rebellion. I've had since launch where I got into a single random encounter, found it took me like 10 min and decided this was a waste of my time. Still hate the game. I'm just playing it because it has been on my backlog for more than 2 years and it seemed appropriate to torture myself with it during Christmas since I am avoiding the torture of seeing family this year.....Christmas is about self inflicted torture right?

Yep. Just go back down the path to the Toren Republic but after you climb back up the ladders make sure to hug the southern edge of the forest until you start walking into trees (make sure to have Kasumi in your party as well).

Found it!! Thank god you told me about that Aeolus.... If I do manage 108 it is thanks to you because I blew right by that hidden path. That would have effectively proven two missed stars. That was an awesome christmas gift Aeolus, thank you :)

Let me tell you, I've gotten a little bit of flak for my review of that game, most people saying I rated it too highly.  But I totally stand by it.  I actually kinda liked it.  It wasn't a great game by any means and not one I would play a second time, but it actually had a shred of potential.  I still think Last Rebellion's battles did the "break zone" thing better than Xenosaga 2 or Fate/Extra's battles did. Oddly enough, the hardest part of Last Rebellion is the second dungeon.  Once you get through that, the rest of the game is pretty easy.

As for me, I'm playing an indie RPG to review for the site.

Thanks to Mesh's recent talks about the 3D Classic Sega games, I've been pretty addicted to 3D Space Harrier. Got up to Stage 8 or maybe even 9(?) before I ran into a lot of trouble on my last playthrough. I keep starting from the beginning after I use up all my continues (which happens fast, once you get out of the groove, it's hard to get back in it) in old arcade fashion. I've also experimented with some of the options, and I think I like the non-inverted touch controls the most, but all the schemes are good. I also have 3D Super Hang-On and an old favorite of mine, Shinobi III, to try out later.

I also started playing 2nd Super Robot Taisen Original Generations, and it has motivated me to put much more effort into learning Japanese because I don't know what I'm doing! I mean, maybe it's just because I'm rusty on the series (I went from playing them every 3 months in Japanese to playing them once this year in English...and having trouble then, too), but I'm having a lot of difficulty navigating these menues. I barely figured out how to save...after I already passed a decision point...

Moved onto Pandora's Tower now. Game is fun, but I really hate the chain controls and the third boss is kicking my ass in part because of it. Obvious solution is to grind for levels and materials to make the armor that is currently available to me, but I don't know how much that will really help when my problem is more of being unable to hit the weak point with chain while running around. Plus when I do hit it, I can't charge the chain without getting hit wasting the charge, so I have to hit him like 20 times. Maybe I'll watch a youtube video of the fight and see if I can learn anything from that.

Huh I don't think I've read that review at all. So let me just take a quick look at it....and just looking at the scorecard you deserve every single piece of flak you got for that score. :p Actually I think you deserve more, so here you go. 70% on Story and Graphics? Really? Reading the review seems to be accurate (minus saying the battle system is "fun"). I probably consider Xenosaga Episode 2's battle system better, but that is the difference between being second to last and last. So yeah game was horrible easily worst game I have played in a long time. Only bright side of playing the game, I don't have to dread it being in my queue any more.

Yep, C-minuses.  I'll admit, the loading screens drawn by all those guest artists bumped up my graphics score a bit.  Those actually were nice.
