FFV - Past the desert. I need to go back and get some summons I missed, I guess. Galuf is sort of a perpetual blue mage with punching skills because situationally that's been the best class for me, even if he's learning shit-all enemy skills. I guess blue magic in this game isn't as useful as in FFIX though? I want to get him some White and Summoner levels.

Butz is currently an Archer and Farah is a bard. don't really have enough bard skills to be useful yet, though. IDK I have no idea what to do with Farah she's sort of becoming my Kimhari. Lenna is a ninja. Her main mage classes are black and MysticKnight.

Morrowind - Killed that sleeper I was talking about. No real reward for doing so but she was weirding me the fuck out. Explored the St. Olm's underworks. Realized I really, really oughtn't be there yet. Gonna head back to Balmora to finish some Caius quest and then on to Hla Oad I guess. Or Suran. IIRC there's a fat lute in the strip club and some quest I have needs one. Fuck Vivec though Vivec is freaking me the fuck out.

--- edit ---

Beat the first Sol Badguy story mode path in GGXX.

Got Ramuh in FFV.

Blue Magic in this game is probably the second best instance of it in the series due to not realizing just how broken some of those skills can be and the fact that anybody can use a learned Blue! spell regardless of whether they're the ones who learned it or how much training they put into the job. The trouble is that it takes awhile for some of the better spells to appear and you do need to go through some hoops to get them, but I believe you should have the Magic Hammer spell which is great for keeping your magic users constantly gassed up on MP and Degenerator should be available to you as well (not useful on it's own but paired with a Lv.# spell....).

Persona 4 - Got the 'bad' ending. Rebooted my backup save from 12/2 and now I'm on the right track for the good ending. I learned long ago to backup saves in every game, and it paid off for me.

SMT: Strange Journey. Still in Sector Delphinus. So glad I got the Visualizer app. The dark rooms suck ass and I'm glad there's finally a way to see through that crap. I finally got to the 6th floor of the sector.

Dunno if I mentioned it before, but I bought Devil Survivor 2 at Gamestop the other day and picked up Devil Survivor 1 and P2: Innocent Sin. I think this summer will mainly be me playing SMT games, along with finishing Tales of Graces F (should have beaten this game over a year ago) and starting up Xillia.

Playing Persona 3 for the first time. Yukari seems like a nice, normal healer chick. Junpei is my bro. Akihiko is kind of a douche, but it's still early on. Mitsuru is a good 75% icebitch, but I kinda dig her. Kenji is a fucking dork. You're only good as a social link, buddy.

Aeolus, what was the first best instance of Blue Magic in FF? I'm tempted to say FFVIII because Quistis' shit was exploitable as fuck and seemed to bypass the "bosses are immune to insta-kill attacks" thing.

FFV - Got Shiva and the three buyable summons I neglected to get. Gonna do some cave somewhere. I sort of forgot what I was doing with the story. Protecting the... earth Crystal or whatever. Also got the level halfer blue magic thing for Galuf. God I'm tired.

---edit---

[12:10] <elodeon> Man I think one of the things Oblivion was lacking compared to morrowind was like
[12:10] <elodeon> actual creepiness
[12:13] <elodeon> Morrowind's creepiness came from a lot of ways. You're playing an outsider on Vvardenfell, and Vvardenfell's culture is intentionally weird. You're not an outsider in Oblivion.
[12:14] <elodeon> There's also the cosmic horror angle, with the sleeping elder gods and zombies and hallucinations and such.

(Elodeon being me). I'm not saying Morrowind actually gets scary -- it sort of doesn't, really -- but there's a definite feeling of decay and paranoia. Especially in Vivec. I got this quest where I have to saw* seven murders.

See my favorite parts in Oblivion were exploring the sewers in the imperial city and seeing how fucked up they were, and that one quest with the cult out in the woods. Morrowind's focus is VERY much on the Lovecraftian and the Occult. The xenophobic nature of the society in the game helps the mood, and while there's definitely a degree of political corruption, it's there to serve the paranoia and conspiratorial aspect of the Nerevarine cult and stuff surrounding it, and doesn't ever steal the spotlight in and of itself.

* Solve? I have no idea what I meant here.

FFVII's Blue magic was the best instance due to the fact that the game gives you up to three different Enemy Skill Materia that required no AP growth, can be spread out so that everybody can use the Enemy Skill command or condensed onto one person so that all three Materias pick up the same skill with just one instance, takes up only one out of 16 potential Materia slots (unless you're stacking them which takes up to three) which means that you can easily have space to spare for other killer Materia combos, and isn't tied to limit breaks or one character only (fuck you Kimari).

The only obnoxious thing about the Enemy Skill Materia is that the last one doesn't show up until you reach the Chocobo Guru's place in Disk 2 so it isn't quite as convenient about collecting spells as FFV was (but you don't have to burn a third of your available command slots just to use or learn either).

In order of usefulness in the series from best to worst it goes....

FFVII; for the reasons above.
FFV; ability real estate is at more of a premium and some of the better spells don't show up til later on.
FFIX; tied to one person but Limit Glove rocks.
FFTA2,FFTA; only Humes can use it and each need to learn it individually, plus they lack the overall versatility that other games have.
FFVIII; Quistis' shit is indeed exploitable but requires her to limit break for it and this in a game where almost everything is exploitable anyways.
FFVI; tied to a late and mediocre character only and regular magic makes it all but obsolete anyways (except for reliable wind and water damage, but ehh).
FFX; fuck you Kimari.

FFXI is in there somewhere but I haven't played it so I forget where it should be.

Woke up unreal early today and attempted to finish Atelier Iris Eternal Mana, played for freaking 6 straight hours and got to the final boss and was simply too tired to do it, lol. Took a break and played Time Hollow for an hour or so, Mass Effect 3 will consume the night.

I like most of the characters so far, excepting Kenji and a few of the snobby/shy girls that won't talk to me. I spend most days upping S.Links and stats and I quite enjoy settingup and fusing Personae. The main story missions that take place each full moon are solid, but I fucking hate Tartarus. P3 has great customization and passive gameplay systems in place, but I've already grown sick of the dungeon crawl. Is completing Tartarus even very important?

Finished Part 2 of Yakuza 4 yesterday.
Part 1 was definitively more interesting, but there were some shining moments in Part 2 too.
I guess my biggest problem is that exploration is harder because of the police in Act 3 and 4 and I mostly gave up on it.
I'm also not a big fan of Saejima's fighting style, but I have to say he's a beast in one VS one boss battles.

I played some SNES games yesterday at my cousin's house. I'm not used to the tiny ass controller and my left thumb was killing me trying to pull off some sweet combos in Killer Instinct.

Morrowind - Found the St. Olm's propylon index. Next step is going to Suran where I will do the Hlaalu's egg mine quest thing, and pick up a Fat Lute. After that, Balmora to talk with Caius and do some thieve's guild stuff. And then on to Caldera where I can continue with the propylon index stuff and maybe join the Imperial Legion.

Mordor: Depths of Dejenol - Trying to level up a healer. Think when they hit level 3 I'll try to take my Seeker back out.

Finally restored the thieves guild to it's former glory and have picked up a crapload of extra quests in the process. Decided to do all the guilds and the main story only, this game appears to be unlimited and the bugs are appearing.
