ETS2 - Managed to park entirely in first person. Woot. Also I get a massive FPS boost if I run in 1024 x 768 and the game actually does this 16:9 letterboxing thing if you do that so it doesn't look awful.
But about that. While there's a loss in detail from going lower res, the... smaller screen space actually makes it easier for me to notice all of the little details in the world. And it's really detailed. And very alive feeling. Even if the world isn't necessarily dynamic, there's a lot of... non-road vehicle traffic going on. Combines in fields, airplanes, trains, little constructiony worker dudes. Even though you're confined to the roads, it really gives me the same kind of explorationy bliss I got from, idk, Aquanaut's Holiday or Yume Nikki.
I'm really getting a directly emotional sort of response from this game -- moreso than I've gotten from other games in a long time -- and it's a damn truck driving simulator. What the hell?
