Played a lot of Xenoblade today!

I have no idea what I'm doing.

How far are you?

I'm working my way to the back of Bionis' leg.

I love Dickson for looking like a 70s pornstar rockstar.  I like sort of "practical" or real-ish designs like that coming out of a JRPG.

AND WHOEVER SAID THAT EVEN AGGRESSIVE ENEMIES WON'T ATTACK YOU BECAUSE YOU CLEARLY OUT-LEVEL THEM (and they'd be useless to overall character EXP) DESERVES A MEDAL.

I'm getting the hang of things, but I'm too scared to get rid of Sharla since she's the only one really capable of healing a decent sum (even if it shitty intervals).  Also a surprising thing from "Good Guy Gamefaqs" for code-naming the "spoiler character" as simply "Seven".  Way to go guys!  I haven't lost faith in you!

Aside from the fact that you can't switch out Sharla yet, she's also probably the worst character in the game mechanically speaking since she's poor at chain attacking (her talent art is unusable during a chain attack which costs you a combo wild card at the very least) and her damage output sucks. Yeah, she'll heal you for a shit-tonne for those long, drawn out fights but once you get everyone to link to the skills that allows you to heal during chain attacks as well as the skills that boost your chain attack gauge, you'll find that other team configurations can survive just as long as configurations that include her but without the caveat of grinding chain attacks to a halt or drawing out fights.

And with that said, every team combination in this game is perfectly usable throughout the game (certain UMs, early game Mechon fights, and 'that one fight' not withstanding), so if you prefer Sharla's slow jiggly butt over the other options, then go right ahead.

Also also, I suggest equipping Quick Gems onto your party leader for pretty much all times. The extra *1.25 to your running speed will really add up in this game.

That's pretty good to know.

I've heard Sharla is horrible later on, but if you say healing gets a bit easier, then that helps a lot too.

And yeah, running speed....  I wish they did something other than take up a gem slot... y'know...running shoes, or Juju's funky dirt bike (which reminds me, Juju is an awful name).

Last night I hit 90% in Lego Lord of the Rings and I gave in and looked up a spoiler-free flowchart to help me get the last three endings in 999. Turns out I only need to beat it twice more. Having played through it five times now, that's a big relief. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but it is a little irritating trying to get all these endings.

Anyway, hoping to beat both games before the end of the day. I'll update this post if I'm successful.

VLR handles this a whole lot better, with teleports to the decision points.

I would say that Sharla's less horrible and more not one of the following: an all rounder that's got all sixteen arts available during battle (though a fully charged talent gauge is needed for half of them), a brick shithouse, a guy that hits like a brick shithouse, a blurry dodge tank with an impressive skill set, a wad of HP capable of AoE heals and filling the chain attack gauge without the need for crits, capable of melting enemy HP bars with DoT (damage over time) attacks, a walking Wave Motion Gun, a buff bot, or a walking Buzzsaw of Doom capable of instantly refilling the chain attack gauge due to vomiting crits all over the place.

And fortunately, there are skills that also improve your running speed. Unfortunately, they only increase your movement speed by 9% total (and half of that wont show up till a long ways into the game). Of course, if you stack the gems' boost and the skills' boost, your total speed will increase by 34%.

The first problem with Sharla is that Xenoblade doesn't really favor protracted slugfests since a lot of bosses have a Fuck You attack they unless if you take too long.

The second problem with Sharla is that Riki never dies so healing isn't really necessary anyway.

Anyway, I think the biggest surprise about Super Hang-on 3DS is just HOW responsive the motions controls are. The 3DS isn't really heavily advertised as having motion control capabilities from what I can tell but, really, the ones in SHO are a looot more responsive and /accurate/ than the thumbcoin. Also including the original and sit-down romsets was a nice touch.

Why couldn't the Phantasy Star Collection on the GBA have had this much love put into it :(((

Gooood It's really killing me that I can't get these 3D Classics. Super Hang-On, Space Harrier, and Shinobi III were among the few games I really wanted to see in 3D. =(

Anyways, been playing Ni no Kuni when I have a chance. Still in Al-Maroon or whatever its called, just one shot the trials with surprisingly little trouble...like, I was expecting it to be a bit of a roadblock, but it wasn't. Oh well, hopefully soon I'll get to see what happens afterwards.

Also occasionally playing GTAV with my bro from time to time. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's actually really fun. We're not even using cheats, either, except the infinite lives cheat, which really shouldn't be a cheat. This isn't the NES for crying out loud...

Well, I did it. I finally got 100% on Lego Lord of the Rings. No Platinum, mind you, but some of the trophies seem really annoying to get, and there's a co-op trophy. I could get it myself, but I only have one controller and those things are far too expensive to bother getting one just for a silly trophy.

Probably won't be finishing 999 today. Haven't even started my last playthrough I've been so busy today. But that's okay, because I can probably do it before I go to work tomorrow if I start it tonight. I haven't even had a chance to check out the new content in FFXIV. The holidays, eh?

I got Velocity Ultra from GMG because t was cheap and bundled with some other game, and I played the first eight levels, but... eugeughuahf not feeling it. It's not a terribly complex game and I don't know why it feels the need to spend a tenth of its levels on being tutorials, especially when one of those tutorials amounts to PRESS SHIFT TO GO FAST.

Also there's no visual variety in the levels at all and the enemy patterns are like, on par with space invaders. Maybe it improves later on. IDK. I don't trust games that start out that time-wastey though.

idk I guess I'll try Explodemon :TTT

I messed around with Radirgy a bit. It's... weirdly hypnotic.

Just finished Crimson Shroud

The game was great. The story was interesting and the gameplay remained fun throughout. The game is pretty short. I clocked around five hours my first playthrough and hit fourteen and a half on new game plus. The enemies are boosted in ng+ so the combat stays engaging. The only part of the story that changes is the ending although new areas are unlocked. Definitely worth a fiver.

My only complaint it that the good ending in ng+ kind of sucked big time. I loved the original ending and was pretty disappointed with the changes.

I think the 3DS has caused me to transcend dimensions and Euclidean geometry. Whenever I look at 2d pictures they appear 3d.

Dragons Dogma - I have a question for anyone who has played it. I'm having trouble with the "quests" page and being able to see where I'm supposed to go. I'll highlight any particular quest, click "show on map", then it doesn't show it to me! You're supposed to see a colored circle or whatever, but it seems to only show them randomly. Like how I was supposed to continue with basic training by killing spiders, but I couldn't get it to show me where it was! Then I talked to some lady named mercedes and somehow triggered a fight with a giant Hydra. I'm getting so frustrated, because it all seems so random. One minute I can see the quest markers, then the next minute I can't. Is there any method to all this? Am I missing something?
