Off topic, but why does RE5 have such a bad rap? I never played it.
Primarily because of its co-op oriented nature and that you have to deal with an AI controlled partner if you want to play solo. From which stems another problem - inventory management is done in real-time, so you need to be real quick with equipping stuff, healing yourself or sharing items with your partner when surrounded by enemies - you can`t take your time here unlike previous RE games. It also doesn`t help that you have less inventory space than in RE4. (The PC version eliminates many of these annoyances by virtue of letting you assign hotkeys to inventory slots which makes inventory management practically a non-issue, not to mention that the KB+Mouse control scheme lends itself much better to the kind of game RE5 is.)
But it`s a fine game otherwise. The shooting mechanics are incredibly satisfying and the game is worth it for the Mercenaries mode alone.

RE5 wasn't a bad game. Yes, for a Resident Evil, it was horrible. Yes, i'm the "RE 0-Code Veronica fanboy who wishes the game mechanics would return to tank controls and fighting zombies". Resident Evil 2 will always remain my favorite in the series. Too much epicness rolled into one game. The soundtrack itself is amazing.

RE4&5 still have tank controls. The character doesn't move instantly in the direction you push on the analogue stick like in uncharted for example, you have to rotate untill you're facing the direction you want to go and then press forward, it's the same control scheme of the old games but from a different perspective.
I loved RE0, one of the best games in the franchise imo.

I automatically go back to 1998 hearing this and the part at :11 always gives me chills, it's a creepy and beautiful song.

Resident Evil 4 is the best action/horror/shooter game I've ever played. Sure it's not old RE but it's still awesome as balls. Not to mention Ada and Leon are badass.

Resident Evil 3.5 Fog Version
Resident Evil 3.5 Hook Version
I still remember reading in the magazines about the multiple versions that this game had. Hell, to this day I still can't believe how good every version looks.

You at least can play with Rebecca in the lastest versions of the mercenaries but I just want to see my bro Billy Coen again, he was (well, is) a decent a character. :<

RE1 has Rebecca, she's actually playable on Chris' path.

Yeah i know but no one mentioned RE1 (as their favorites) that I am aware of so far. I want a game that plays like RE4 with Rebecca as the MC, but I know Capcom likes to crush this poor girls dreams so i wont hold out for it.
