(because, these days, developers seem to think that games that play themselves are "cool")

They are only experiencing with their gameplay mechanics, I'm pretty sure some developers will learn from their mistakes.

Not too confident about that, I wouldnt be surprised if the Square-Enix FFXIII-II brainstorming went something allong the lines of "Hmmm, FFXIII didnt get a very good reaction from the public, I bet they didnt like all that button pressing during combat. We should have every character AI controlled next time and make paradgrim shifts automatic. That way they can get more enjoyment out of the pretty animations! Yes, that must be it"

Hearthstone: I don't like card games, and yet I enjoy this.
Chaos on Deponia: Beat the first one, went straight for the second one, that says a lot.
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin: Seems ok, has mouse issues.

Well, I don't think that we need to discuss more about Final Fantasy and Square Enix in every topic of this forum. That discussion is really getting boring and troublesome, we all know how awful they are and all that.

There's no need to keep punching the old bag that much.

You're probably right, but FFXIII is the best example of the "problem" I have with recent jRPGs (for the PS3 at least).

They are brain dead.

Were it not for a few devs that seem to know what they are doing, Atlus and sometimes NIS, i'd jump on the 'jrpg's are dead' bandwaggon. I'd say the genre is on life support though.

Capcom is a pretty trustworthy dev. I'm guessing the only reason they haven't put on their dungeon master hat for a while is they don't think they have what it takes to make a AAA title, so they won't bother.

Splash page now shows some lovely, 3D graphic'd in-game[?], scenery, and a fucking creepy ass red drgon holding a heart.  The contrast is brutal./

Looks like I'll have to settle with naming my character "Ryu" and giving him blue hair.

Meh, I'd settle for that.

Producer: Hiroyuki Kobayashi (RE4, DMC4)
Director: Hideaki Itsuno (DMC3)

Holy crap.

I'm liking what I'm seeing here, it kinda looks like a mix between Monster Hunter and Demon's Souls. Hopefully this ends up being a great game.

Funny, that's exactly what I was thinking when I watched the trailer. I would hope combat isn't too repetitive, but I'm willing to wait and see. At least it looks like something different.

My exact thoughts. Well, I guess this can be deleted, or moved to Miscellaneous Games now.

Cool looking enough, but I'd need more to go on at the moment.  I hope this hacking and slash isn't as aimless as it looks.  That, and for Capcom, I was expecting something at least a little less Tolkien-esque.  DMC was still pretty creative despite the modern-day element.

Can't say I'm blown away by the trailer. Looks fairly generic, especially since Dragon Age II just came out and Dungeon Siege III is right around the corner, I know its not the same game but the setting is getting kind of stale. I'll probably end up getting it some time down the line, but unless they show something really unique, it's far from a "day one must have" purchase for me.
