The history of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is now so complicated that every time I tell it I contradict myself, and whenever I do get it right I'm misquoted. So the publication of this omnibus edition seemed like a good opportunity to set the record straight--or at least firmly crooked.

I know! Why don't we all put a list of our favorite and least favorite FFs in our sigs? That way we don't need to write the same thing every week!

Anyway, here's how FFXII looks when emulated on a high-end PC:

Shit's insane, first thing I'm gonna do when I buy a new PC is running my PS2 games on it. MGS3 and Persona 4 also look crazy good.

The supposedly best plot ever returns!

I just had a huge laugh over this when I saw it on gaf. The guy who posted it actually thought it was legit. How stupid can you possibly be?

Even if they were to do it and hire linguists (um, though I'd imagine they'd hire translators... just saying), I doubt they'd put forth THAT much info press-release style anyway.

It's not only that but the way it's written, it's ridiculous!

That reminds me! If you think about it, Tetris is really just an erotic version of Minecraft.

I'd need to fully replay VI first, but I do think V trumps IV now, at least when using the GBA version of V. Now that both stories look pretty dumb to me the one that knows to have fun with itself (and is infinitely more restrained in its deaths) comes out more appealing.

I like how in FFV you get an idiot shonen hero with a small harem of JRPG princesses as your party after awhile, that there's at least one pitched battle between a turtle and a tree, and that Galuf is one of the most baddest motherfuckers in the entire series.

I like how in FFVI you get to ride around in power armor that'd make Allen Ripley of Aliens jealous, that you get to suplex a fucking train while also running away from it on foot, and that you can randomly chuck an 8 year old girl/aspiring hentai artist into the slimy maws of tentacle monsters with absolutely no repercussions.

Its just so hard to choose which of these two fine specimens make for the best of the series. Probably IX.

For the record I DID say I preferred 5 over 4 up there, not 5 over 6. Like said I still need to replay 6, but I recall the drama in that had far more weight than IV's ever did, and it still had some light hearted moments mixed in.

And while I technically brought up the story for 5, that's more because the gameplay's pretty much no contest. You can argue for the merit of IV's gameplay simplicity, I don't doubt it's the best choice for how it handles party members, but the job system just makes 5 that much more versatile.

Actually, to me the hidden hero of the FFV battle system was the fucking awesome equipment.  Often the equipment that came "enchanted" with like haste or any other special perks were more worth it than "stronger" equipment.  That was my favorite part, not only job customizing, but the items! =)

I hated FFV's story though.  The 3 worlds concept was the best part about it, ExDeath didn't make much sense.  FFIV had a bigger impact (ex; "BROOOTHHHERR!!!!").  FFVI was amazing though, I still didn't think the battle system was as good, but the overall world, people, and experience was what made it awesome.

Part of why I specified the GBA version up there, without the higher quality localization the story's a lot less likable.

Although...
Code:
... Galuf's death trumps all of the "deaths" (and the one actual death) in FFIV.

I never got interested in playing Final Fantasy IV and VI until the end.

Is like, I start the game and my brain goes "Dude, fuck this... go play Final Fantasy IX (or Uncharted 2 multiplayer mode)". And I agree.
