It feels like only one person even really looked at the initial post since it really has nothing to do with "which FF is better?" and the title is pretty obviously a joke.

That concert sounds pretty freaking awesome.

There is a totally video game unrelated concert coming up that I REALLY want to go to but because of the venue's dumbass ticketing policy I'll probably miss it.

Alicia, I spent months with the game, played parts of the Promathia expansion and I can't think of a single, non-social experience that I had with the game that was positive.  All I can think of is sitting outside the Valkurm Dunes or Yuhtunga Jungle yelling for a party for hours on end, finally getting one, and ending up with less experience than I began the day with.

I don't doubt that Kyle spent more hours with FFXI than he would with an average single-player RPG.  I've never talked to him about his experiences with the game personally.  There's no doubt that FFXI to me was nothing but a barrier to what I wanted to do.  I couldn't play with my friends, I couldn't play with others, I couldn't play by myself.  The game provided almost no choice in the class combinations and some classes were straight out if you actually wanted to catch a party.  It really was an exercise in futility, and I spent more than 200 hours with the game.  How many of those I spent in Valkurm?  I don't know, but I wish I had them back.

Kyle's writeup is his experience with the game - and I stand behind his writeup, because I guarantee it's the experience that many more had with the game.  I don't doubt that you love FFXI, but there are many, many more than don't.

Everyone submitted their 5 best, 3 worst, and 3 best substories, and each got assigned a point score equal to its position.

Mainline:

1st - 5
2nd - 4
3rd - 3
4th - 2
5th- 1

Others:

1st - 3
2nd - 2
3rd -1

IX ended 3rd on a single person's worst list - it had 1 point.  In comparison FF2 had 24 points, FF14 had 14, and FFXI had 9.

It ended up way down in the runner-up list - but it got 38 points in the positive, which put it at second for the best.

i can understand having a bad experience, but because of that he made comments that he is therefore unqualified to make such as:

forgettable setting and story
boring combat

this would be like if i sat here and said FFX sucks and the story was boring but i never got to lucca.
