What sucks is that it's not backwards compatible with the 360 and that they still haven't put it on xbla.

Backwards compatibility doesn't matter, support for Xbox Live on the original Xbox is gone, meaning that the game can't be played unless I'm missing something. Also, while you probably meant XBL since Games on Demand doesn't fall under the Arcade umbrella, being released as an actual XBLA port WOULD probably be the only way to make it playable/worthwhile on the 360.

Thought you had to have an active membership? Well, if that's the case then it's not TOO dumb.

No, I just loaded it up and as long as my gamertag is saved to the hard drive, it will recognize it on the main menu of PSO.  If I would delete it, it would ask me to sign up and make a gamertag.  I was so angry back in Christmas of 2003 when I bought it and didn't have LIVE yet.  I had to borrow my friends gamecube version and all Christmas eve, I played PSO on gamecube and the next day I registered a gamertag and had tons of fun with it, OutRun2 and Counter-Strike :)

Saw it this morning.  Was unimpressed.  Even if I had been impressed, all I have to do is point to PSU PC as an indicator of what to expect with regard to game support.  Sega will abandon non-Japanese support for this game just like every other iteration of Phantasy Star.

Look to Guild Wars 2 or Star Wars: The Old Republic for the next big thing.
I wish they'd give more power to SEGA US to do something when things go wrong, or the making of events. If they did that maybe we'd not get it so bad.
I have several friends who are going straight to the Japanese servers this time...

Edit: No posts since July huh.. (Sorry about bumping.. that counts as a necro doesn't it, I tend to struggle when even old stuff doesn't leave the first page.. but personally feel it's better than making a new topic on the same game, but I'll be more careful about it in the future), did anyone see the new news? About the Alpha tests and such?
I'm not surprised it has been delayed till next year really. I kind of expected it to be.

I'm glad it's coming to Vita....but I want it for either the 360 or PS3 soooo bad. I miss PSO1&2, and never played PSU(worth it anymore? In a PS mood). Oh well, here's hoping they change their minds.

A Vita version really ups my chances of getting this game since I find myself playing handhelds far more often these days.

Man I sort of feel like playing PSO again. Had the GC version, only played offline though. I guess the only way to do netplay now is via SCHTHACK?

Why am I disappointed in that news? I hope it's not as bad as the gazillions of F2P MMOs out there...

Honestly, if they didn't expand much on the PSO model it'd be a bit of a ripoff for it to be a P2P game, especially considering the kind of support Sega tends to provide.
