*rubs hands up and down body seductively, quivering gently*

The "new game" menu, when it finally appeared, made my soul climax and I am still recovering.  I sat there listening to the music for like 5 minutes until it finally looped.

hmm, actually these could be spoilers.  If you like surprise reference material, do not read below
Code:
Oh, the enemies' dying is very reminiscent of Killer 7, and Garcia's laugh is definitely straight from the Heaven's Smile.  I also saw some enemies that must've been a nod to pyramid head, with their pyramid like heads.

For a gory, sick game, it's quite a feel good romp!

Would love to get it, but I have three more weeks of summer classes - and I'm only working three days a week. :/ Horrible timing for me for the release. Don't think I'll be getting Catherine any time soon either.

So here's the playlist with some music from the game, good stuff.

Did anyone here get this? I'm going to wait for a price drop. In case you are wondering both versions are pretty much identical:

Fuck yeah I got it, it was the best gaming experience I've had since Nier.

Japan knows how to do trippy games with ongoing humorous banter.

It was really good, excellent pacing, cool as all hell, and the light-dark system had enough going for it to be used in many ways.  It was just so much fun.  The reviews mostly say 8.5/10.

I'm 100% the target demographic, though.

I really liked the game, but there is a really obnoxious section around the halfway point where you can tell Suda took control of the bus while Mikami was taking a piss in the back.  Awkward turret sections and awful side-scrolling levels mar what is an otherwise fun and imaginative experience.  The gunplay is decent throughout, but the controls (despite constant tweaking on my part) never felt quite right.  Going back and playing Dead Space 2 shows just how fiddly the controls in Shadows of the Damned are.  The lack of a New Game+ also kills the upgrade mechanics, and doesn't offer any incentive to play again.

The turret section was a let down, but I liked how the side-scrolling sections used the exact same light-dark mechanic, as if to say that real ideas transcend genres, or whatever.

I almost bought this today, but Alice was on sale...hope that wasn't epic failure, but if so I'll blame the little lady, she really wanted Alice.

Playing some of this I think, like Dead Space, this shows h ow Resident Evil 5 should've played if they wanted to adapt the controls to the standards set by Gears of War and other games. It has that same FEEL that RE4 did, although the shooting could use a little fine tuning, and even that may be solvable by tweaking the aiming. I hope Capcom takes the hint here for the next entry on a dual stick control setup rather than either awkwardly copying other shooters or trying to compromise poorly again.

I just played through a bit of Vanquish, found an NPC called S. Mikami, and saw a bunch of robots dancing in front of a boombox.  Various humor.  It also made me wonder if that turret section really was just Suda51 mucking about, because there are a lot of turrets in Vanquish...

I can see how Suda51 and Mikami would be friends in any case.

I'm really enjoying the game (best loading screens ever), the only thing i hate are all the fucking glitches and bugs! The checkpoints have been perfectly spaced though so not too much backtracking that needs doing.

There's a free Shadows of The Damned Theme and Wallpaper on PSN now. They should also release a patch to fix those small annoyances that the game has, I'll doubt that will happen though.

But hey, wallpapers. :D
