Thanks for the heads up.  I'd have never browsed the theme section of the store otherwise.

Edit:  Wow, just realized that Akira Yamaoka was the composer of Shattered Soldier's soundtrack all this time.  The motorcycle music reminded me of it so much that I looked it up.  Here I was wondering how he is such a big deal (though I never played through Silent Hill.)

What a cool guy.

That's sad.  Whose parents will buy their kids a game with the "D" word in the title, though...

It only got about a week and no one even knew it existed. I'm not optimistic that it'll suddenly blow away charts in July, but I can see it making a more respectable total once word of mouth spreads.

Speaking of word of mouth, I'm hearing a lot of talk about all kinds of bugs and glitches. It's also supposed to be pretty short and easy, even on hard.

Bugs and glitches... the worst I saw was when I shoved Johnson into a zombie's mouth, but it was more to the side of his face, during a melee kill.  Strictly graphical.

The 2nd playthrough (which is probably when people would play on hard) definitely would be easier, as there is no first-time panic during some of the puzzles.  I don't know why people hate Suda51 games... I think IGN gave NMH a 7 too.  Why can't videogames be an experience greater than the sum of its parts, and get credit for it?

I'm going to link this game to Nier, for the shit talk and the companion banter.

For people in Canada, it's now on for 39.99.

If I weren't going to Heavy TO next weekend, I'd be picking it up.

8-4 Play 7/15/2011: ¡QUE MAGNIFICO!

Played Shadows of the Damned? You should! Why?

1) Read the reviews, it’s a great game!
2) We here at 8-4 worked on it!
3) Oh yeah, so did some other guys, Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami.
4) You will enjoy this podcast a helluvalot more, since we discuss the soundtrack with legendary game musician Akira Yamaoka and talk shop about creating the script.

When you tire of our self-congratulatory nonsense, there’s plenty more chit-chat about Xenoblade, PS4 motion controls, Dragon's Crown, Final Fantasies XIII-2 and Theatrhythm, and more. Do me, do m—er, do it!

I demand you to listen this podcast.

For some reason I never posted this but here are some pictures of Suda and Yamaoka dressing as Garcia in an event to promote the game, I believe this event was before the game was launched in America.

I also put the link of the official Japanese site at the op if anyone is curious to check that.

I may have to pick this up some time. Is it more of an action game or survival horror though? I'm actually fine with both, but I'm a little curious. The trailers make it look like its a gaming cocktail of Silent Hill and Resident Evil 4 with a big dose of DMC humour thrown in for good measure.

That's roughly right, though in the case of Silent Hill it's just the music for the most part. It's way, WAY more of an action game than a horror one, there's only  a few sequences that can be described as horror and they can be kind of comedic anyway.
