So here's the deal: Tomorrow, Vivendi Games is releasing the multiplayer of FEAR as a free download, and is free to play.
We're playing, bitches.

Wish my computer could run it beyond setting the graphics to 'shit'. :P

What's a good estimate of the specs needed to run this? I don't think my laptop would live up, but I'd totally play if it did . . . somehow.

They couldnt have picked better timing. A few nights ago really late, I logged on to WoW....and got bored in about 10 minutes. I looked at my desktop and all the icons I have there and realized.....Steam wasnt there. I pulled it up, reinstalled Counter Strike and started playing again. I'm hooked all over again.
FEAR will be my bitch. And the bitch will do my bidding.

I'll be playing. I played the original FEAR MP at my friend's house a few times and it was a pretty damn solid MP shooter. The bullet time mechanic is a bit weird with 16 people, but the guns have a visceral feel to them and the pistols actually don't suck like they do in most other FPSes (which is fun, because dual pistols are always awesome).

I'm downloading it right now and maybe I'll be lucky to run it on the lowest settings with this 5 year old computer.

Unfortunately, the torrent for this is slow as all get out - Only about 12 seeds at this point, and none of the direct download services are letting me get it via a download manager.

I'm currently downloading it from fileshack.com and I'm getting roughly 330 KB/sec, and while it doesn't work with download managers, it's still pretty damn fast compared to some of the other download sites.
EDIT (an hour later): I've been having download problems tonight, so I'll try again tomorrow.

Decided what the heck and am grabbing it since after reading the bit about the torrents, I figured I may as well take advantage of GameSpot's bandwidth while I can.
Holy shit, this is going faster than I thought my cable capable of - 750-ish KB/sec.

I finally finished my downloading and played a few rounds of TDM, which is really fast paced (I don't even want to imagine what regular DM is like). I'm playing as Noodle. Anyone else start yet?
