I remember reading an estimate a while back that the 3DS only cost about $100 to manufacture.  Nintendo is being rather arrogant this generation.

I didn't know this.

I already posted that article a while back, they're taking advantage of the DS' success, i wonder how long they will maintain that price.

Meh; much like the 3DS only one of those launch titles appeals to me. Probably won't touch it until there's word about some decent RPG releases. Or a PSN Store with PS1 & 2 classics. If they announced that I'd buy it just for the chance to download classic RPGs from those two gens on the go.

Disgaea 3 confirmed for Vita.  It was hinted at before but now we know.  All DLC included plus some new content...maybe I'll actually play this version.

Well now I'll have to pay attention to the Vita. Is it confirmed that it can play PSP games?

Wasn't that confirmed a long time ago?  Of course there is no UMD drive so you need PSN versions.  Though Sony did hint at the possibility of re-releasing PSP games on Vita memory cards.  I don't know how likely that's going to be outside of a handful of high-profile titles, though.

I thought it was unconfirmed, but I'll definitely be looking at this now. Probably would be a better Day 1 than the  3DS was.

Vita's ram has not been cut.

512 megs main memory plus an additon 128 megs dedicated video memory.  That's actually more memory than the PS3 or 360...

Yeah, what devs wouldn't give to have that RAM on PS360. It might not seem like a huge difference but believe me, it would go a long way in improving the look of the games, it would be particularly useful on the PS3.

It'd probably be somewhat of a mixed bag given that the total ram count is higher but the Vram is halved compared to the PS3, but if they can juggle well I'm sure it'd be compensated for, plus the lower resolution probably makes it even less of an issue. Still, it's good to see, if there's one technical aspect that's probably the most important to go overboard with it's raw memory, whether that's the format or the ram (ideally both.)

Yeah, far less pixels to render (though of course the res is excellent for a handheld screen).
What I mean is total RAM, it would have to be distributed differently of course.

I want this! But I'm not very keen on any of those games- I've just been meaning to purchase a PSP and it seems like I might as well just get this instead.
