For those who keep up with the latest anime, what are you looking forward to this season?
Personally, I'm not looking forward to much:
Space Dandy looks like it'd be silly fun, though I'm not sending my epectations to the moon just because of its pedigree. It could still quite easily crash and burn. That said, I'll still be keeping up with it as often as I can, whether it's on Toonami or Adult Swim's Website.
Then there's Sailor Moon, which could either be really good, or just as disappointing as its predecessor. To be quite honest, the Magical Girl genre has been going pretty strong thanks to Pretty Cure, and IMO, it's gonna be tough for the new 'Moon to compete.
Speaking of which, there's a new Pretty Cure anime coming out, which I'll probably be scrambling through the dark depths of the internet to find just one translated episode of, and then I'll give up and forget about it until it becomes easier to find 3 years later. That is unless Pretty Cure gets picked up on Daisuke or Crunchyroll (which they won't. If they get one, then they'll suddenly be pressured to get the whole franchise out, and there's a lot of Pretty Cure...).
Hozuki no Reitetsu looks like it might be a genuinely clever comedy, perhaps the best recent one since Senyu and Cuticle Detective Inabi this time last year. This is the one I'm looking forward to the most after Space Dandy.
Wooser is also getting a season 2, which is nice. It'll probably be the only show I watch consistantly until it ends, since its a series of shorts and won't take up too much of my time. :P
That's all I'm looking forward to, though there also a few shows I'm holding out some vain hope that they'll be good:
Hamatero looks like it could be this year's Unlimited...if The Unlimited had a premise that was cliche and as dumb as a rock.
Nobunaga the Fool sounds genuinely interesting, and it's a mecha show on top of that, but the trailers so far have told me nothing, and I'm not sure how well its gonna be able to pull off its interesting premise.
Magical Warfare sounds kinda cliche and it looks like another battle-anime-in-a-high-school-setting, but the trailers thus far have shown that the battles might be genuinely interesting.
Buddy Complex is another Sunrise Mecha Anime. Sunrise has not had a very good track record lately. Still, I'm holding out hope that it'll at least be better than Valvrave and Gundam Builders. But only a little hope...
The Pilot's Love Song could be good, but the last few Alternate History anime revolving around fighter pilots were really really bad. Hopefully this is more Area 88 and less Last Exile, but the chances seem kinda slim judging from the trailer. Still, I'll give it a chance just because I'd love for something like this to actually work...
Noragami looks cool, but a lot of people are comparing it to Gintama, and that's an extremely high bar to pass. I doubt it'll be that good - it doesn't look much like Gintama after watching the trailer - but it'll probably entertain me. Only problem is it was picked up by Funimation. I'll need more than that to get me to commit to watching something on their players.
Lastly, there's Wizard Barristers: Benmashi Cecil, which seems interesting from the trailers, and judging from Galileo Donna, the director has improved greatly since Kite and Mezzo Forte...which isn't saying much, since he was only narrowly above your average hentai/Grindhouse director before. :$
Oh, and I was looking forward to World Conquerers until I saw that it includes lolis in extremely revealing outfits. Yeah, no thank you...
