ISEKAIs

Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou
This one is rough and pretty disgusting.
There's plenty of isekais this season so don't even bother with this one.

Isekai Cheat Magician
Fairly ok isekai that has both the characters being together already.
That way it avoids the whole harem thing.
It's pretty inoffensive.

Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de 2-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki desu ka?
This one is kind of a joke where the mom gets transported with her son and she's super OP.
The joke falls flat pretty quickly and then you realize that the characters are awful and there's no plot.
The mom is really stupid with a side of dumb.

Maou-sama, Retry!
Another completely uninspired Isekai.
There's plenty of others with the same basic gimmick that do it better.

ANIME

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka II
Pretty much a flagship shounen by now. It will do well for sure.

Uchi no Musume no Tame naraba, Ore wa Moshikashitara Maou mo Taoseru kamo Shirenai
This is the sweetest thing ever.
Watch it.

Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san 2
Still a pretty good school life romantic comedy.
The best part of this thing is when you get to Karakai Jouzu no (Moto) Takagi-san

Joshikousei no Mudazukai
Less good in every way school life comedy than the one above.

Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator
I've never understood why people like Accelerator so much but here's some more circle-jerking about him =/

Kanata no Astra
This sounds like Infinite Ryvius but it probably can't be as bad.
I'm going to give this a try.

Sounan desu ka?
Anime Survivors

MOVIES

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! Kurenai Densetsu
Instead of a season it seems we're getting a movie.

Quan Zhi Gao Shou: FOR THE GLORY
Not very well known thing but this is pretty good.
There's a season and manga for it.
Pro player that got done dirty starts playing again (a game that's totally not Dungeon Fighters Online)
This movie is supposed to be a prequel so I'm guessing it's when he was still a pro and how he got kicked out by the team.

OVA

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya: Prisma☆Phantasm
This is a trailer for one of those silly sequels they make about their series at some point.
All the Type-moon gag series have been great so should be ok.

Okay, there's actually quite a few new shows coming out this summer that I'm looking forward to:

Astra Lost in Space - It's Lost in Space: the Anime, now with high school kids who might be 50% less stupid than the Robinson family. I'm always up for a sci-fi adventure, so I can hardly wait for this. It may be based on a manga, but said Manga also was only 5 volumes long and has definitely ended by now, so there's a good chance we'll get a complete adaptation.

Dr. Stone - This just looks cool, and I'm really curious as to what it was that turned everyone into stone in the first place, but more importantly: I wanna know what Senku is going to do with the power of s c i e n c e

Granbelm - I'm a sucker for giant robots, even magical girl ones. It looks like it might at least have some intense fights, so I think it'll be good change of pace between all of the darker shows I'm watching.

To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts - I swear I've seen this exact plot synopsis in like, 3 other shows that came out over the past couple seasons. The manga for this seems to predate all of them, however, so I wanna see what it was about this show that inspired so many copycats.

Vinland Saga - THIS IS IT, BABY! I've waited too long for an anime adaptation of this show, and here it is! I can hardly contain my excitement! Now excuse me while I try to figure out what pirate sites are least likely to give me viruses, because I'm not paying a single penny for Amazon Prime. I've waited too long to let Jeff Bezos hold it hostage on me.

The Isekai that I'm most looking forward to this season (even if it isn't animated yet).
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

I have read the manga for bothof these, and they are both good series. As for what Senku is going to do with power of science? Everything! :P

AoT season 3 part 2 was a god damn masterpiece. This show could have been a mindless shonen and yes it would have been watchable but the storytelling, its just crazy good right now.

Astra lost in space thinking about getting into.

Watched some of Mix, its a passable sprots anime. Also Gundam Char edition. Always been a Gundam casual and have to be in the mood for it. Very good though.

Vinland Saga watched 2 eps, yes its gonna be excellent.

I did watch the first episodes of Fire Force and Astra: Lost in Space, and so far I'm impressed. Moreso Fire Force than Astra, but considering how often I've been burned trying to get into on-going seasonal anime, the fact that they actually left me wanting more is a plus.

I'm waiting until the 24th to watch the bulk of the shows this season, since I like to watch with dubs, a lot of which are 3 weeks behind. That just means I'll have more to watch of the ones that aren't by then, though, so it's worth the wait.

In the meantime, I've been watching Fairy Tail, trying to get caught up. I watched from ep. 227-284, plowing through 4 arcs, so now all I have left is the final arc. I, uh...didn't expect to get done so soon. Usually I only go this fast with One Piece. The story really picks up at this point, and it was hard to put down as a result. I got so used to seeing this series as a bunch of disconnected adventures that it's nice to see it tie all the threads together seemingly all at once. I'd say the finale can't come soon enough so I could enjoy more of it and see what it all leads to...if that didn't mean it'd all be over. =(

I finally checked that link, and yes, that actually looks cool. I love Iori from KOF, and I could see him taking the whole thing in strides.

Only two episodes in, but I'm pretty sure I'll like Cop Craft.
That's a lot of smoking though. Guess there's no rules against showing it on TV in Japan.

I'm so glad that Vinland Saga finally got an anime. I've been reading the manga for several years now and it's excellent. Gonna have to start watching the anime.

Ok... I have to bring this up to all of you guys.

Watch Kanata no Astra

Episode 1 will be super hard because it's basically tvtropes.com

BUT!!!

Once you get past that... the show is all kinds of crazy.
The plot twists are insaaaaaaaaaaane (in the best kind of way).
I can't believe where the show is at episode 10 compared to episode 1.
It's a wild ride.

Wait seriously?! Finally, Ash actually beat the Pokemon League in a region? Now this I gotta see.

(Don't worry, I'll watch Lost in Space, too, when I find the time. I wound up being very busy this summer).

EDIT:

I just got back from seeing Fire Force: The Movie: The Musical PROMARE in the theaters.

I can't remember the last time I saw a movie where the audience felt the need to give it a standing ovation, but the this film most certainly earned our applause. A wild ride from start to finish, with wonderful animation (I mean, the heavy use of 3D CGI made it look like a video game cutscene most of the time, but with clever uses of coloring techniques and camera movements, they really made it work), backed by an excellent score that perfectly punctuated every scene (I was only half-kidding about the "musical" part, Sawano truly outdid himself this time), all to tell a tale that admitedly treads a lot of the same ground Trigger has relied upon since their days at Gainax, but told at just the right pace so it hits all the right notes without losing the audience or feeling out of place.

If anything, it feels like a greatest hits of everything Trigger has delivered so far, while still remaining its own thing - It has the visual flair of Little Witch Academia, but with grand stakes to back up the grand visuals. It has the humour and thematic weight of Kill La Kill, but with better-paced scenes and less of an emphasis on cramming insanity as possible into every single shot, so the quieter moments get a chance to breathe despite the shorter run time. It has the callbacks that we're used to by now, without beating the audience over the head with them so much like Darling in the FranXX did.
Spoiler: show
Also, when they revealed the "aliens" plot twist for, what? The 5th time now? At least they did it with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor this time.

Also also, the visual designs sorta reminded me a lot of Space Patrol Luluco, which made me happy.

This was an absolute rollercoaster ride of a film that I definitely enjoyed watching. This season has been an exciting time for me as far as anime goes (when I can watch it), yet this really takes the cake. I'll be thinking about this one for quite a long time to come, that's for sure.

With the season ending, there's another one coming.
There's a ton of stuff that looks like it could be interesting.
Definitively at least one thing for any taste.

ANIME:

Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld
It's SAO. Yes, the first part of this had very uncomfortable rape. Expect some more because the author just loves that shit.

Enn Enn no Shouboutai (Fire Force)
Well, tons of people like this so this is the second cour.

Boku no Hero Academia 4th Season
Next season of MHA. Shounen goodness.

Vinland Saga
Another second cour of a big hit first cour.

Nanatsu no Taizai: Kamigami no Gekirin
Kind of another popular one, but I never liked this one =/

Shokugeki no Souma: Shin no Sara
Feels like this is getting old. Wonder if they can revive the whole thing with this.

Assassins Pride
Manga is ok. Nothing offensive either. Like pretty much anyone can watch this and find it at least OK.
Assassin gets too close to his target. Becomes her instructor.
Teaches her and makes stronger.

Kono Yuusha ga Ore Tueee Kuse ni Shinchou Sugiru
ISEKAI ALERT. Also... it's bad.

Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidou Shuki Ningyou
This thing is HUGE, but I haven't checked anything about it.
No idea why it's HUGE... but I guess I'll watch this to see.

Psycho-Pass 3
HAHAHHAAHAHAHHA
HAAHHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
*breathes*
HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHA
Wait, you're serious?

Choujin Koukousei-tachi wa Isekai demo Yoyuu de Ikinuku you desu!
ISEKAI ALERT! Kinda middling to bad. The dynamic of the MCs is fine, everything else isn't.
Selling of daughters and rape-ish bad guys in the manga.

Quanzhi Gaoshou 2nd Season
Remember that thing I always shill about a pro player that got kicked out starting again that I always say is awesome?
THIS IS SOME MORE OF THAT.
Read the manga or hunt the anime. This thing is like Seinen with a drop of shounen.
If you know about Dungeon Fighter Online, it's even better.

Watashi, Nouryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne!
ISEKAI ALERT! Kind of a shoujo-ish isekai.
Out of all the ones above, this one is by far the best even if it's nothing incredible.

Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen
ISEKAI ALERT! Also kinda shoujo-ish
Girl dies but instead of getting a cheat ability, she gets a diseased body and probably won't live to be 12.
Best of the bunch.

OVA:

Strike the Blood III (so OVA 9)
Watched up to 7 and it's just crap, but I can't stop loving it.
I guess it's my guilty pleasure... «Iie senpai, it's our guilty pleasure!»

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya: Prisma☆Phantasm
They were hinting at this a while ago.
Phantasm serie = joke

Movies:

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Hyouketsu no Kizuna
Another side story? Pretty much the same as the other Re:Zero movie.
Best part of first one was Emilia and Rem hugging each other drunk.
Hard to top that.

Made in Abyss Movie X2
Oh man, one of my friend is going to go bat shit insane when he learns of this.

Hibike! Euphonium Movie: Chikai no Finale
Ahhhh yeah. My body is ready.

Fragtime
This one is pretty sweet. Nice love story.
Two girls able to create time just for themselves.

Yeah, this season mostly has a lot of sequels to stuff I still need to get caught-up on, so this will mostly be a catch-up season for me, which I desperately needed, anyways. I'll keep it brief:

Dr. Stone, Vinland Saga, Fire Force, Seven Deadly Sins, My Hero Academia, Fairy Gone, Radiant, Psycho-Pass...maybe try Granblue Fantasy...

I also gotta finish Astra: Lost in Space and Granbelm. Oh yeah, I never got around to To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts. Geez, this is turning out to be a lot...

With that said Keishicho Tokumu-bu Tokushu Kyoaku-han Taisaku-Shitsu Dai-Nana-ka: Tokunana looks pretty interesting, so hopefully I give that a shot...assuming I could ever remember such a mouthful of a name...

No Gun Life is too visually striking for me to ignore, so I might give that shot, though some of the scenes in the trailer I watched seemed downright unpleasant...

Beastars seems pretty outside my wheelhouse - CGI series are normally pretty off-putting for me, and I'm not a fan of more realistic dramas, but I do like the music and the synopsis sounds interesting. Most everything else I'd be watching this season are action series, so this would at least make for a change of pace. I guess it's worth a shot.

Speaking oof changing pace, Autumn tends to be pretty depressing, so I think I might try a comedy this time, so I'm thinking I'll give African Office Worker a shot. Reminds me a lot of Wooser, which was the last time I enjoyed a comedy series for any length of time.

So that's four shots this season. We'll see if any of them hit their mark...
