I already know you guys dabble with Indie reviews, and its fairly apparent that they get judged on somewhat different scale than AAA titles, which makes perfect sense for obvious reasons. Now don't get me wrong, there are plenty of Indie games that outshine some AAA titles, but it just seems weird to have Dink Smallwood (92%) outscore Mass Effect 2 (90%) seeing them side by side. So, my suggestions would be to make:
1) An Indie review section, this would also make finding these games easier for the readers that are specifically interested in Indie titles.
2) A Forum section, that would help devs submit, advertise and discuss their creations without getting buried by popular topics in the main sections.

I think this is a good idea; while there are a number of indie titles that are kind of 'meh', there are also a decent enough number of good titles, though a lot of people either pass on them, or just don't know about them. A section like this might certainly help, in that regard.

and sadly, you can't really score these on the same standard because it would really discourage people from trying most of them...

the indie games that are worth talking about and get our attention are the ones that rise to the same level of quality as the "mainstream" titles, without the big-budget graphics.

This site gives big, major update status to games like Cthulhu Saves The World and Chantelise. They get the same screen time as, say, The Witcher 2 or DXHR.

I'm not part of the senior site decision-making process, but I see the "indie" label as muddled and unnecessary in terms of how we categorize our content.

The Indie scene is growing rapidly, with game making software getting simpler to use and stronger in numbers.
I used the scoring as an example, but its not as much about splitting the content, as it is about attracting the Indie crowd, especially developers.
You already review Aldorlea stuff here, but believe me, there is a LOT more to Indie RPGs than that. The problem is, that I only see the commercial stuff here and some of the better known free games. What I'm missing are the hidden gems, and I believe that opening up this section will help you find them, because it will attract people who can point them out to you.

Seems like Indie games are getting more and more popular these days (while the big game companies are kinda stagnating these days or not even putting out RPGs). I don't know where to begin looking for them and where to find reviews and such. Where to find them too, and what type of platform they are for (are they PC downloads, can they be played on the Xbox or PS3, are there even any to download onto handhelds like DS or PSP?).

It's not an RPG, but this is one of the most memorable indie games I've played in the last couple of years.  It's called EmberWind and it's a Ghouls 'n Ghosts type game.  http://timetrap.se/emberwind/ . And although this is an oldie, it's certainly a goodie:  Mr. Robot by Moonpod.  I played, and enjoyed, it years ago. http://www.moonpod.com/

EDIT: And, yes, indie gaming is becoming more well-known and wider spread.  It's like we, as gamers, struck oil and the underground is flooding.  It's difficult to keep up with stuff, be it RPGM stuff, the RenPy stuff, Spiderweb Software's stuff, all the stuff out there.  

I can already tell you that I missed a lot this year.  Just last night I tried out the demos for Planet Stronghold http://www.planetstronghold.com and Alpha Kimori http://www.alphakimori.com.  I liked them both.  (I also tried out the demo for this otome called X-Note http://zeiva.net.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't superultrasexyawesomewtfbbq either.)

It's like with music.  It's hard keeping up with all the local bands out there... and in the short time my band's been kicking, we played with some fantastic acts I'd never have known about otherwise.  And there's always local shows happening, which is great since I like to see what's out there musically.  Because, let's face it, most stuff on major labels and the radio is corporate swill.
