In favor of the plane flying, straight from an AV website.

So it does work as I also suspected.

The funniest part about this topic is that we were called "stupid", My how the mighty have fallen.

YAY!  Whats funny though is people like them will most likely still not accept this irrefutable evidence.  They are actually the ones who are "stupid" and should be "pissed on" because they are so close minded.

Let's take a quote from your link

Quote
The question that has been going around is not particularly artfully worded, and I think that has caused some of the disagreements

Which is exactly the issue. Don't you ever remember those trick questions in math class that are worded in a fashion that they literally are unable to be answered? The question in the original link suffers this same problem.

Also

Yet I seem to be your "internet target" here. Normally if you had simply posted a link then your point would have artfully been made. But since I am obviously your sole target in this I find it very hard to take what you say seriously.

Looks like somebody's mad.

That's not an incorrect statement, by the way.

Well, it's not difficult to sympathize with them. I mean, even when they're actually right nobody recognizes it and they still wind up 'losing'.

I guess I came pretty late to the party.

The wheels on a plane just give it something to stand on when it's on the ground. The forward force is being generated by ejecting or propelling air backwards. A ship operates on a similar principle: you use a propeller to push water backwards, which pushes the ship forwards.

On the other hand, a car propels itself forward by exterting force on the ground. Lose traction, and you can't move. The conveyor belt simulates a loss of traction, but traction is irrelevant for a plane taking off.
