Fairly shocking, but when you stop to think about it, it just isn't a big deal outside of paying a fortune updating and replacing the text books, and that's an inevitable casuality of science. By the time it matters, as in we're able to head there, we'll likely all be dead, or at least very old.

What about all the grade school projects on planets, are they omitted?
Lame joke, I know, sorry.
Its fine, its not like we have interstellar travel or some garbage like that where this would actually hold gravity to my life and decisions.

"Pluto is no longer a planet."
"Pluto is a Dwarf Planet."
[(Planet)(dwarf) = (Planet)(d)]
Pluto = A Planet.
FUCK THESE PEOPLE
Addendum: By this logic midgets/dwarfs/little people are not considered "people". Somebody should file a class action suit for this type of discrimination. WOO

What will happen to Sailor Pluto? Now almost every sailor senshi is named after a planet except for her, Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon. Poor Sailor Pluto :(

Not surprising, especially after they started finding things in the solar system that were bigger than Pluto.
And science textbooks are updated all the time. How do you think they make money off the damn things/us poor college students? :P

This is one of those times where you should "IF IT AINT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!".
Was there any GOOD reason to redefine Pluto? No. Just a couple of assholes getting huffy over astroids and moons and shit.
I swear, it makes me more and more concerned about the idea of who the fuck will own the moon in twenty years. No offence to my American friends, but I sincerely don't want the moon to become the 51st state of the Union.
Watch, Japan'll colonise it and then it really WILL be moon language.
PLUTO'S A PLANET YOU ASSWIPES.

Tired I guess. Don't want Pluto redefined or any crap. It's a case of leaving well enough alone.
But hey, nevermind me. The moon comment more or less came from the mentality. It's like... Fuck, who the hell determines this shit? Because we got huffy about a few astroids and crap, we've now had to revise what we consider 'planets'. Bullshit. Next we're going to have to establish who the fuck owns the moon. Gay.
Not drunk, just tired. ^^

I see nothing wrong with it...with all the new discoveries lately, how are they supposed to be categorized properly unless a planet is defined? Once the definition was revised, Pluto no longer fit it.

Not really a big deal. It does annoy me however. I just don't really see the point in re-classifying something that everyone calls a planet. Why not just leave it be?
It'll always be a planet in my mind dammit!

In my opinion it doesn't really matter. I just wonder how much money was wasted on deciding this was or wasn't a planet?

Oh good, I'm glad John Gibson, someone who's opinion on the matter is only as good as say....mine or Tony's or Mark's, is making his message known.
Way to go, FoxNews, way to get someone who actually has some understanding and actual opinions on the subject matter to write your articles for you. Yeah I know it's just editorial crap, but still....why John Gibson? His show's ratings that bad?

From the fox "news" article.
Quote
Actually I don't know why Pluto got itself unmade as a planet. I didn't even read the rest of the story, frankly
if you're gonna write an editorial read up on the fucking subject first ><
and i can kinda see why its no longer considered a planet, there's several trans-neptonian objects larger than pluto and closer to neptune, should they be considered planets?
