Lord Of The Rings: War In The North.

I wasn't interested in this game until I found out it wasn't like most other LOTR games of late and is in fact an online co-op dungeon crawler. Anyway, does anyone have the release date for the game? I have the 360 version pre-ordered and for the last few months Amazon says it's the end of this month. GameStop has it August 1, other game places don't have it coming out until November 1. The official publisher/developer Facebook pages completely ignore anyone asking when the games true release date is. I have quite a few games I'm buying now until the holiday season and it'd be nice to know if I need to budget my money for a release date in a few weeks or if I don't have to worry about it for almost half a year!

Played some War in the North at E3, and it was pretty good fun. Seems like a solid title out of snowblind, but aside from the LotR license, there's not a lot that's stand-out. But none of Snowblind's titles ever were stand-out - they were just solid and fun to play.

I think this about sums it up. If you like games in the vein of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and you don't mind it being skinned with some Tolkien love, you'll probably enjoy this. I know I will likely enjoy this far more than FFX-skinned "The Third Age."

Looking forward to war in the north.

Man, as long as it isn't as bad as the last LotR game I played(Conquest), man that game was bad. I have some hope for this one, but we will wait til it comes out.

I've pretty much given up on LotR. It seems like its become the source of endless cashin titles.

I'm honestly confused by this statement.
There have been 3 console-based LoTR titles this generation (War in the North, Battle for Middle Earth 2, Conquest). Both BFME2 and Conquest were released when EA had the license. War in the North is the first console title with WBIE having the license. I fail to see how this is a cash-in.

I was not aware that this was not an EA release, but that is completely irrelevant. I also fail to see how this being a console title makes any difference...The LotR lisence has been milked to death, regardless of who holds it. Until it gets its "KotOR", It'll be hard for any LotR based game to grab my attention.

I think that despite the title being used widely (It's been used in approximately one game every year for the past 10 years), most of the games have been pretty varied. RTS games, Action titles, a Japanese-Style RPG (albeit a bad one), an MMORPG, etc.
Honestly, I don't even care that the game has the LotR license. I'm interested in it because the developer - Snowblind - has several ARPG hits to their name and I trust their ability to craft a worthwhile dungeon crawler.
It's also interesting that you mention you want it to be like "KotOR" - War in the North doesn't follow Frodo or Gandalf or any of those folks. It's the same time period, yeah, but it's like a Shadows of the Empire - your characters in War in the North are like Dash Rendar. He's there when shit is going down, but he's not blowing up the death star.
