DESTATI!
March 10th, 2003

It's time to wake up to another big edition of Fan Art! Today's update is all from February. I apologize for being a bit tardy for the last two weeks for both technical and schooling issues. It seemed all my mid-terms hit me at the same time... plus my computer with all the fan art went dead after too much of those late night study sessions. Thankfully, I kept a backup of my hard drive, so everything's still intact (that I know of, at least). Because of this, I have a huge update for you today! Aren't you happy? You better be. ;P

If you look down below, you'll see 14 sweet submissions! You'll find one of Chrono Trigger, Grandia II, and, oh yeah... you can't forget the Final Fantasy Series, which, of course, always seems to be the leading fan art craze. You'll even notice that one of of them is Valentine's Day themed, too. Heh, it kind of makes me wish I had updated earlier for it. Again, I apologize for that. ^^;

Speaking of themes, it's been suggested to me that I start a 'theme/topic updates'. To be perfectly honest, I don't really like doing them... unless, coincidently, most or all the fan art has a similar theme. Remember the "Final Fantasy" update? Yup. That's mainly how I'd get a particular 'theme day'. If I do find something in particular that I'd like for artists to draw, I may suggest it one of these days. Maybe I can do a contest for that particular idea, huh? Don't read too much into 'contest', though. It's just an idea for now.

Another thing to note... while I was checking through the fan art this weekend, I noticed that there were submissions of non-RPG games again. It's odd how many of these I get sometimes despite how much I've complained about 'em before. From now on, since I get so many, I will ignore fan art of some obvious non-role playing games... Namely, any game that RPGFan does not cover. No offense to anyone, despite how cool-looking the fan art may be. I might comment on your piece personally through e-mail if I have time, though.

So, that about wraps it up for now. I'll save whatever else is in my mind for the next update which will be sooner than this update. Oh! And, if you're still waiting for your fan art in February to be posted up, I'm getting to them. ;) Till next time!

~ Jen Claudio, who really needs to sleep earlier.

Game/Inspiration: Final Fantasy X
Comments: Auron and Lulu kicked butt in FFX, though there was not much to be disliked about the game at all IMHO. Still, I was sad the two of them did not develop a closer friendship (not a relationship, just...friendship.) Certainly not enough to be all silly like this! So I had to do a fanart of it. Now, I gotta go get me some cactaur wallpaper...

Comments: Schala and her lil' bro. A gift for a friend, and one of the few gamebased images I've done. Used Painter 7 til the very end, when I had to adjust for lighting and such. Schala's character design is probably my favorite out of the game, since I like blue.
