Fan Art Submissions 101
July 23rd, 2003
Hm. 13 submissions posted. I hope this doesn't become a habit... going over my usual 12 submissions and all. =P
Surprisingly, I don't have anything random to say today (thank heavens!) except to reiterate some of the guidelines that are clearly stated in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page of Fan Art. It turns out that after sorting through the newer submissions (as well as the remaining June backlog), I've noticed that many fan artists haven't be giving me the proper information, which is needed for me to post up fan art. And, even after e-mailing to certain individuals about reading the FAQs, the fan art submissions still do not follow any of the basic guidelines. So for this update, I will be doing an introduction to RPGFan Fan Art Submissions 101... since no one reads the FAQs, anyway. =P
Firstly, you must have a "fan art" (as opposed to copied/plagiarized artwork) from a role-playing game (RPG). This means: don't send me pictures of Jak and Daxter that you didn't even make yourself. You must be the original author of the fan art... plus it must be from an RPG (such as Final Fantasy). If you don't know what an RPG is... then I have no idea what you're doing here, my friend. ;P Check RPGFan's Game Reviews List to see for yourself what role-playing games are.
Secondly, send me this info in the body of your e-mail:
- Your Name/Alias
- Website gallery (if applicable)
- Title of your Fan Art
- Game Inspiration of your Fan Art
- Any short comment (if applicable)
And lastly, before you send your submission, give me a link to your fan art off your website or attach the file in your e-mail as a .JPG or .GIF. PLEASE NOTE: keep fan art file sizes below 500kb; otherwise, it would make it much slower for me to post your fan art (if at all). Also, in the "subject line" of your e-mail, label it RPGFan Fanart: "Title of Game". This is so I can identify which e-mails are SPAM and which aren't. (I get tons of junk e-mail daily, and it would definitely help if you did me this favor at least... oddly, I even get SPAM with the word "fan art" in it. O_o)
Well, that's the basics of it all. Read up the rest of the FAQs for more info. If there's still questions that aren't covered by the FAQs, send them to me through e-mail. I'll try to answer/clarify any of them.
Yay. I'm spent. Again, enjoy the 14 submissions posted for this update. I swear I won't go over that amount in the future... nor type up too much here either. ;P
