Overall RPG of the Year - Fallout 3
An epic and haunting commentary on the devastation of world war and the survival of those left behind, Fallout 3 surpasses every other RPG in 2008 with its fantastic art design, massive and realistic world, finely-tuned sandbox gameplay, and powerful social criticism. Fallout 3 improved upon Bethesda's previous title, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with its instantly and irreversibly engaging world. Never before has a virtual setting so enchanted the minds of gamers with its unnerving loneliness. Fallout 3 may not introduce many new ideas, but it implements existing ideas in such a way as to leave a player breathless. Should the bombs drop, may Fallout 3 be kept safe deep down in a vault of its own.
