Last year's The Witcher proved to be a solid Western RPG, with a unique style due to its Polish origins. Gamers followed Geralt the White Wolf, a legendary witcher, or monster hunter, as he unraveled a mad sorcerer's plot, all the while defending himself against ignorant peasants that saw him only as an abortion of nature. Unfortunately, The Witcher suffered from poorly translated dialogue and questionable voice acting, as well as a few minor inconveniences. Developer CD Projekt had the brains to patch up this epic tale, however, with this year's release, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. With a vastly improved translation, great voice acting, a cleaner interface, and other augmentations, The Witcher now ranks among the best in recent years. In the words of the witcher himself, this game is "abso-f*ckin-lutely beautiful."
Runner-up: Fallout 3
