Prompto Argentum (Final Fantasy XV)
Best Supporting Character of 2016

Best Supporting Character of 2016: Prompto Argentum, Final Fantasy XVPrompto is a surprising character because he pushes the boundaries of just being the comic relief. At first impression, Prompto may give the impression that he's going to be the annoying, whiny character, always groaning and making complaints at anything laborious or difficult. And he does this sometimes, but he's the heart of this road trip. Prompto is charming and likable because he fits so perfectly with the rest of the cast. He doesn't just make you laugh, he has some of the most heartwarming moments with Noctis. Their bond is a strong one, and one of the driving forces that helps you through Final Fantasy XV. His photography skills make for some of the best moments in the game, creating fantastic memories you'll look back on fondly. Without Prompto and his camera, this road trip might've been a bit duller.

Delilah (Firewatch)
Best Supporting Character of 2016: Runner-Up

Delilah is the supervisor of Firewatch's protagonist Henry, and the voice on the end of his walkie-talkie. A veteran fire lookout, Delilah's tone is initially sarcastic and inappropriate, but her attitude masks years of solitude and pain. Depending on how you choose to speak to Delilah, her relationship with Henry can run anywhere from an uneasy partnership to a long (short?) distance romance. Quick, funny, sardonic and incredibly well-acted by Cissy Jones, Delilah is one of the most human characters we've seen this year, the irony being we never get to actually see her.

Prompto Argentum (Final Fantasy XV)

Dagda (Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse)

This category wasn't even close when it came to Readers' Choice voting, although the gap between games is closed somewhat by knowing that SMT4:A's Navarre came in a not-too-distant third place.
