Lunar demo could cause "bug" on final version

According to Working Designs, if on the demo you gave Alex's ocarina to anyone else in the party, you could have a serious problem when playing the final version. They don't say exactly what will happen, but you won't be able to complete the game. To remedy this, simply give Alex back his ocarina before you save on the final version of the game. What should you do if you've already saved on the final version with the ocarina in someone else's possession? I think you get really angry that you have to restart the game before you can pass it :)
