Growlanser

Career Soft, the developer of the spectacular Langrisser series, is now reportedly working on a new game called Growlanser. Previously referred to as Glow Lancer by this site, Growlanser will be published by Atlus (not Masaya, as previously reported) and released for the Playstation.

Langrisser fans will thrilled to hear that Satoshi Urushihara, the brilliant artist of the Langrisser series, will be providing the artwork to Growlanser. Thanks to Earth Work, we've got some pictures of Urushihara-san's character art right here at RPGFan. Click here to check it out.

Because I can't get my browser to display Japanese text, I can't tell what genre of game Growlanser will be. However, judging from the character designs and full-size cast, it seems overwhelmingly likely that Growlanser will be either a strategy RPG, a traditional RPG, or an action RPG.

Growlanser is tentatively scheduled for a November 1999 Japan release. Whether the game will be released in the US is unknown at this point.

Urushihara also appears to be contributing art to another game called Buccaneer. Further details on Buccaneer are unknown to us at this point.

We'll report more information on both games as it becomes available. Stay tuned!
