Yasunori Mitsuda to score Chrono Cross

Square has announced that the gifted Yasunori Mitsuda will be composing the soundtrack to Chrono Cross, the highly anticipated (and highly scrutinized) upcoming sequel to the well-loved classic Chrono Trigger.

Mitsude, considered by some (including yours truly) to be the greatest game music composer around, wrote nearly the entirety of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. Other past works of his include the Xenogears soundtrack, and a good portion of the Tobal No. 1 soundtrack.

Mitsuda's involvement looks to be a much-needed boost to Chrono Cross, especially since public response to the early screenshots and art has been mixed at best.
