A New Xenogears Game?

Namco's new subsidary, Monolith Soft has already been hard at work developing a new RPG. What is intriguing about this new game is that it will most likely bear striking similarities to Xenogears.

According to Kunihiko Tanaka, the art director of the original Xenogears, who is now a part of Monolith Soft, a sequel to Xenogears of some sort was previously planned but didn't come to fruition. Kunihiko now claims that this new RPG will have aspects similar to Xenogears that are apparent enough for fans to notice. Of course this new title will be under a different name, and have nothing to actually do with Xenogears technically.

However, since the art director of Xenogears is now part of Monolith soft, as well as the producer, Tetusya Takahashi, anything is possible. This is about as close to a sequel as it may get. Unless of course Square announces a new title to continue the series in the future.
