Detonator Gauntlet Undergoes Name Change

After removing part of the marquee entirely off of their website, Working Designs has changed the name of Detonator Gauntlet to Vanguard Bandits. It seemed Midway thought that the name Detonator Gauntlet shared too many similarities with Midway's recent title, Gauntlet Legends.

Working Designs' Victor Ireland had this to say, "Detonator Gauntlet got pulled back into the shop because Midway was ready to sue us because it had 'Gauntlet' in the name." "Anyway, the game formerly known as 'Detonator Gauntlet' is now called 'Vanguard Bandits', and will probably ship in February because that's the earliest we can get new ads in print. It will ship with a LUNAR 2 fully playable demo with a good chunk of the game. We're using the extra time to tighten up the Bandits gameplay and add bells and whistles to the interface."

It looks like Vanguard Bandits will come out in February 2000 in order to give WD the time to properly re-promote the title. On the bright side some work is being done to improve the interface a bit, and it will come with that Lunar 2 demo.
