Japanese Sales Chart

This recent Sales Chart in Japan has shown great results for Sega's Shen Mue. Shen Mue jumped to the #1 spot and now has a total of 380,472 copies sold. Shen Mue is now Dreamcast's best selling title to-date in Japan.

Here are some other sales numbers for recent RPG releases in Japan:

Pocket Monster Gold and Pocket Monster Silver take up shop at #2 and #3 with totals now at 2,588,138 and 2,564,221 units sold respectively.

Valkyrie Profile at no.6 with totals reaching 355,154.

Parasite Eve 2 with totals now at 273,166 (surprisingly low for a big Square game).

Chrono Cross with totals now reaching 638,651.

And finally, Legend of Dragoon with 315,949 so far.

It's actually a bit surprising to see Playstation RPGs like Valkyrie Profile, Parasite Eve 2 and Legend of Dragoon selling less copies than Shen Mue. Especially considering the huge difference in user base for both consoles.
