Final Fantasy XI Dual Release?

During Square's recent Millennium Event show in Japan, three separate Final Fantasy titles were revealed, shocking at least me a great deal.

Now Square is mentioning a few of its plans for Final Fantasy XI, the first massive online game to bear the Final Fantasy name.

In Japan Final Fantasy XI will be released simultaneously for the Playstation 2 and PC alike. Even more shocking however is that the japanese PS2 version and domestic version will also see a simultaneous release!

To add to the chaos, players on our shores will be able to join those who own the game in Japan thanks to Square's PlayOnline service. Unfortunately no mention was made of a U.S. PC version just yet, but it wouldn't be stretch to see it in the U.S. eventually.
