Sakura Taisen GB New Pics and Info!

New info on Sakura Taisen GB - Geki: Hanagumi Nyuutai! has surfaced. The release date is July 28th, as opposed to the original Spring 2000 release. Published by Media Factory, this spin-off game lets you play as a newly recruited Hanagumi member who will spend one month at the theater. Other than this new unnamed character, Sakura Taisen GB features only the cast of Sakura Taisen 1 -- no Leni or Orihime this time around. The game will supposedly allow you to save at the end of each day and let you play some mini-games on certain days. The theater's background colors will change depending on the time of day. A menu will allow you to check the characteristics of each Hanagumi member. Judging from the screen shots, it looks like the battle system is no longer in isometric view. Of course the LIPS (Live Interactive Picture System) will be returning, in an improved form.

Recently interviewed by Japanese magazine Dengeki Dreamcast, Chisa Yokoyama (Sakura's voice) made the unexpected comment that the voice recording for Sakura Taisen GB was finished. Could this mean there are voices in the GB version? It's technically possible, even though the dubbing would be quite limited. Media Factory has yet made no announcement concerning a possible dubbing, though.

We have 16 new screen shots and 2 pieces of art from Sakura Taisen GB for you to look at!

And for those interested in Pocket Sakura -- the device that can link to Sakura Taisen GB through infra-red -- it's being released on June 23rd at a price of 3,500 yens. We have 4 new pictures of it here!
