Thursday News With No Clever Title

Announced today, Nintendo of Japan will be forming a new subidiary. Comprised of former Square employees, many of whom worked on titles such as Secret of Mana, and being called Browny Brown, this new subsidiary's job is to develop RPGs for the upcoming Game Boy Advance. They will officially open office on June 30th. Browny Brown already has a "communication RPG" in development for the Game Boy Advance, tentatively being titled Magical Vacation and due for a spring 2001 release in Japan.

Not only has Diablo II gone gold, it should be in stores by the end of the month. Just to recap, there will be five new character classes, each with unique skills and abilities. There will be four towns instead of just one to explore. There will also be wildnerness areas, dungeons, churches, graveyards, tombs, and caverns. The world will be randomly generated. There will also be new weapons, armor, monsters, items, NPCs, and more than 20 quests. Twenty-five minutes of FMV and 70 minutes of original score will also be included. Eight characters can play together on servers in North America, Europe and Asia. Diablo II will support 3Dfx and Direct3D. Diablo II will be published by Blizzard Entertainment in the states and Capcom of Japan on the other side of the Pacific. No word yet on who will be publishing the European release.

In other news, Activision's Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption should be in stores as we speak. This PC RPG was developed by Nihilistic Software, who were the former designers of LucasArts' Jedi Knight.
